GRAMMY-winning singer NORAH JONES has blasted BRITNEY SPEARS for promoting
herself in raunchy videos to cover up the fact she can't sing.
The 24-year-old jazz star claims record buyers are bored of pop acts like
Spears, because they focus too much on their sexy "porn"-style image at the
expense of good music.
Jones says, "She's got nice breasts. But I don't think she's a great singer.
"At some point you get enough of all that naked flesh and want to listen to
something decent.
"People like my music because they've had enough of manufactured pop songs.
They're fed up with singers who look like something out of a porn film."

She's right, I have NEVER heard Britney sing live, even some of her concerts sound pre-recorded to me, but she does have nice breasts, and a damn fine catchy tune at times.

I have heard her sing live. She did 'Lucky' on some music channel a few years ago. And I am honestly not exaggerating when I say it was the most godawful performance I've EVER heard on TV...

That is HOW I would imagine it to be...
Do we even reckon she sings on the songs, or is she just another Milli Vanilli?

Whatever.
At least (a good number of) Britney's records aren't aural equivalents of sleeping pills.

Britney actually sings live more often that you'd think.
Some of the performances are later dubbed by her record label onto the DVD's or something.
I saw her doing a live version of "Everytime" (a ballad on the new album) with just a piano and some strings and she sounded very good.

On ballads, I expect her to be fine, I just cant see her doing the more uptempo numbers...

Apparently she sings to a backing track, because the routines are tough - but that's no excuse. I'd rather hear strained, slightly offkey vocals than playback.

most of the uptempo stuff is mimed... I have a lot of her performances downloaded on mpg (:manson: I know) and she RARELY sings more than a few notes live
not one performance of Slave 4 U or Toxic that I have seen/downloaded is live (usually the MATM performances are done with a backing track since she's far too busy dancing to sing:angry: )
99% of the time she's live with the ballads.. some of the Not A Girl performances were a bit  but the few of Everytime have been spot on

She was certainly able to sing when she was little.

I think she's under the same impression that Janet Jackson is.. the harder you dance the less they expect you to sing:manson:
speaking of her "younger days".. her Love Can Build A Bridge from Star Search was decent (though the song in general is shit)

The live version of "Everytime" actually sounds BETTER than it does on the record - something I thought you'd never be able to say about Britney..

WTF? & Who's this Norah Cunts to slag Brit...Brit is LOVELY. Besides she has some VERY decent tracks (unlike Norah), her voice is ...let's say ok. & she CAN dance. I think Britney is a bit more covered than Xtina, j_lo & others...so what's her point of slagging only britney :manson: Anyway, I think Norah is BORING & her music is utter shit as she can hardly sing. She makes me wanna sleep & I guess that's the reason why only old people buy her crap...they need to sleep.

I'm sorry Shania, but that's crap. You may not like Norah Jones' singing, but she's a good singer. And you'll find out that at her concerts she actually sings live.
I loved her first album, it's very refreshing and laid back. It leans in several directions, towards jazz, folk, country, blues, and I like that blend. But it doesn't go too far in either direction, which makes it slightly MOR. Personally I wish she'd add some more jazz elements. So Norah's actually not the best person to slam anyone.
