Pink Floyd 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'

One of the best psychedelic albums ever - totally 'out there' - most songs by Syd Barrett. Combines spacy improvisation with odd little ditties like 'The Scarecrow'.

Untrue. She wrote it but didn't record it till 'Tapestry' in 1971.

Van 'the pork' Morrison's finest moment. OK - I accept that El Porko has recorded masses of dull shite but this & 'Moondance' are great albums. This album sounds like nothing else - free-flowing jazz tinged and perfect.

The Small Faces 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake'

Great album this - funny little mockney songs like 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon' followed by a psychedelic 'trip' cycle about Happiness Stan searching for the other half of the moon.

The Byrds at their poppiest. Contains 3 Dylan covers & a bizarre version of 'We'll Meet Again'. Not a weak track on it.

Its become fashionable among Beatles fans to knock this album for some reason. Its their best - especially 'A Day in the Life' & 'She's Leaving Home'.

Nick Drake's first and best album. 'Time has Told Me' & 'Fruit Tree' are the best known songs - my own favourite is 'Saturday Sun'.

Bowie's 1969 'hippy' album - actually its totally underrated - some great songs on this - esp 'Cygnet Committee'.

Bob Dylan "Blonde on Blonde"

Dylan's LSD -soaked mid-60s masterpiece - his voice sounds so odd on it - unlike any other Dylan album - like he's so off his head he's barely awake. A mystical journey which takes in Mona Lisa with the highway blues, leopard skin pill box hats & the Kings of Tyrus. Inimitable.

Probably the definitive Dylan album - certainly its the most fun. Madcap humour comes to the fore on songs like 'Bob Dylan's 115th Dream' & 'On the Road Again' while the tone darkens for 'Its Alright Ma I'm Only Bleeding' - one of his absolute best songs , and of course the perennial 'Mr Tambourine Man' is also on this.
