'At Seventeen' is one of my favourite songs from the 70s. The rest of the album isn't quite as good.

I was tempted to leave this out because of its association with certain other people on here. But what the heck.

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you

Don't you
Don't you
Great stuff!

Her best album by a million miles. Normally she's unbearably sanctimonious but here she concentrates on the music & songs about relationships. 'Diamonds & Rust' & 'Winds of the Old Days' are both brilliant - my only gripe is that 'The Alter Boy & the Thief' isn't on it.

Its irrelevent WHEN a compilation is released if the songs DATE from an earlier period. And MOST of Abba's hits were in the 70s so that still makes them MAINLY a 70s band.

I think including Greatest Hits compilations is a bit dodgy in itself.

Well where WOULD you put it then? In an 80s list when only 25% of the songs are from the 80s. Or in a 90s list ?

If you're going to include an Abba compilation it should be Greatest Hits volume one or two.

I'd put it in a Top 25 Greatest-Hits list or something.

The first entry from the Dame - classic 1976 album a mix of futuristic tracks like 'TVC15' and mournful coke-fueled songs like 'Word on a Wing' & 'Wild is the Wind'.

We'll buy some drugs
And watch a band
Then jump in the river
Holding hands
Is this the best ever Bowie line? Great album from start to finish .

One of the first albums I ever owned and the first on cassette. My mum bought it me from Woolworths . I always used to listen to it when I was ill & had days off school.

Songs about disillusionment & lost ideals. Most of Neil Young's albums are duller than dull but this is a f@ckin masterpiece.

'Heroes' is probably Bowie's best song & the full version is here not the chopped down single cut. The instrumentals are doomier than those on 'Low' especially 'Sense of Doubt'. Classic.

#13 is fooking class. I've always liked it, but it only recently escalated into a bona fide masterpiece for me. It just works fantastically from beginning to end.

We're coming out
Out of our closets
Out on the streets
Yeah, we're coming out!
Lou Reed at his best - this was produced by Bowie & Ronson and the Bowie influence is all over the album. As camp as hell - especially on 'Make Up', 'Satellite of Love' and 'Vicious' ( Vicious/you hit me with a flower/you do it every hour...)
Includes both 'Perfect Day' and 'Walk on the Wild Side'. ALL Bowie fans should buy this as well!!!!!!!!

Iggy & the Stooges : 'Raw Power'
Oh this is just f@ckin mental. The roughest, sleaziest. loudest MESS ever put on disc. Another Bowie production after he 'rescued' Iggy from his druggy morass.

Its Gary Numan! He may be a pillock but in his day he made great, Bowie-soaked synth pop.

Bowie's most 'futurist' album - spawning scores of 80s imitators.

On a roll after 'Blood on the Tracks', his bobness released this stunning album in 1976 on the back of his legendary 'Rolling Thunder Revue' tour. A mystical masterpiece - a warm, summery, sunny record which never seems to date. OK 'Joey' drags on for too long, but 'Romance in Durango' more than makes up for it.
And the angry 'Hurricane' showed he hadn't lost the political edge of yore.

The Dame in a dress! Bowie's first album of the 70s is one of his best. 'Heavier' than his later Ziggy albums - full of doom-laden imagery and general weirdness - especially 'After All' & 'The Supermen'. Underrated.
