An exciting chart battle if I do say so myself.
Britney Spears - "Toxic"
- Despite an initially poor showing, the parent album has bounced back into the UK Top 20 last week.
- The single has just been A-listed on Radio 1. Her first A-listed single since "Oops! I Did it Again"
- Great word of mouth
- Heavily playlisted and interesting video.
- The single's prospects may be hindered by the album's sales boost (ironically) and the overload factor.
Kylie Minogue - "Red Blooded Woman"
- B-listed on Radio 1.
- A vicious blast of UK promo is expected in the week leading up to 1/3, with an appearance at G-A-Y (her first' proper' one since "Spinning Around") on 28/2
- Buzz over the single and its video haven't reversed the album's fortunes, currently sitting in the 90s on the Top 100.
George Michael - "Amazing"
- A long-awaited single from his first album in 8 years. Never underestimate the novelty effect of a first single!
- However, it comes on the heels of 2 disappointing singles.
- Still on Radio 1's C-list.
- Word of mouth doesn't seem to be too positive.
So there you have it.
Now. How do you think the whole thing will turn out? Will Kylie get 2 back-to-back #1's? Will George grab his first chart-topper since "Fastlove"? Or will Britney push her underdog status to the limit and emerge on top?
