Listen here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/scottmills/?djs_rhn_text). Play Tuesday's show and ffwd to about 1 hour 20 minutes.

Sounds like a B-SIDE to me. :(

But the ba-ba-bas are good.

UGH. I've really HAD it with them now.

I blame the utter Emperor's New Clothes-NESS of "What Will The Neighbours Say".

Oh I dunno, I rather like that! Could maybe do with a stronger chorus, but I think it'll be a grower!

I like it :D It's a grower .. Reminds me of GOOD version of Pink's "Feel Good Time" a bit

I'm not too sure about it, it's not very instant. The chorus could have been stronger. Can't wait for a H/Q CD Rip :D

I actually LIKE this, though obviously a better quality version will help. It reminds me of 'The Show' in that it seems to do this and do that but never actually DO anything. But it's very summery and I can see it being a pretty big airplay hit, especially if the weather is warm.

It's ok. Probably will be a grower, but slightly disappointing.

I'm quite interested to see what they come up with using production teams outside Xenomania.

Didn't THE FADERS do that "ba ba ba" thing on one of their two flushtastic singles?

It's OK on first listen...

It's not bad but I'm not very enthousiastic either. It gives me "Love Machine" vibes which means I'll probably love this in 6 months time.

On the nadinecoyle.net forum someone tried to type out the lyrics

I know you like to wear my dressing gown when I'm not there
I guess you like it in my shoes
Just cos you drive a Benz already and the ladies stare
Don't mean you'll go as fast as I do

I know it's summer in the city and the sun is high
But you could play it cool again
Cos I have seen you disco dancing with your pants on fire
We need a little tropical breeze

So baby, baby, watch the needle when you're heading south
You drive me crazy, just remember you could burn me out
Slow down

It's been a long hot summer and it's ninety five degrees in the shade
(Ba ba ba)
It's only Sunday morning and I need to find the feeling again
(Ba ba ba)

You put me in a fever fifty stories high
And suddenly I'm freezing and I don't know why
It's been a long hot summer and I'm shaking like a cool lemonade

If you wanna get fresh get out of my car
Cos the boys are due, we're going too fast
I'm taking my time now
If you wanna fly high keep out of the sun
When you think and start to run it's no fun
So why don't you climb down?

If you wanna get fresh then take a cold shower
Put your back on ice before you turn sour
Nobody can sue me
Don't play with my head and dust with my eyes
Everytime I feel the temperature rise
I need you to cool me

???
So baby if you fight me, how you gonna like me?
Running down that Old Kent Road
So think before you bite me, how you gonna get me home?

It's been a long hot summer and it's ninety five degrees in the shade
(Ba ba ba)
It's only Sunday morning and I need to find the feeling again
(Ba ba ba)

You put me in a fever fifty stories high
And suddenly I'm freezing and I don't know why
It's been a long hot summer and I'm shaking like a cool lemonade

A little late
To take it slow
But I couldn't wait
To party

A cannonball
Not what I wanted
Now I've seen it all
So find me

I've put the shade
Around the world
Drinking pink champagne
It's easy

Turn the heat too high
It's what I wanted
But I just can't lie
Now I'm queezy

I like the "So baby, baby, watch the needle when you're heading south. You drive me crazy, just remember you could burn me out" bit but it never reaches the same heigh again after that.

I would have to agree actually. I love the way Nadine sings that part :D

Hopefully we'll get a high quality SOON!

My favourite part too... a shame the chorus is bland :(

It reminds me of their b-side "Androgynous Girls".

I think Pop Justice said that as well!

The first part of the chorus "It's been a long hot summer" has the same amount of syllables as "Pretty boys lacking passion"... very similar.

When will the video be shown for the first time?

On Sunday's CDUK (1050am) - think the girls are in for a chat as well. They are also recording on this Sunday afternoon for the following weeks (24th) show, where they will be performing and co-hosting I believe!

I'M PARTIED OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME
SO BABY IF YOU FIGHT ME, HOW YOU GONNA LIKE ME?
RUNNING DOWN THAT OLD KENT ROAD
SO THINK BEFORE YOU BIGHT ME, HOW YOU GONNA GET ME HOME?

BRIDGE of the year methinks. It's growing on me fabulously. I fear a SHIT video could absolutely kill it's chances though.

"Wake Me Up" was their first decent video in a long time, so here's me hoping they'll continue that trend.

YES!

The bridge is absolutely tremendous. The problem then is that none of the rest of it can then live up to that...

The video is horrendous, they all look like corpses. Nicola especially looks like she's just got up from a cold slab.

The song's pretty good, definitely a grower, which is strange for them in my case as usually the the first impression remains the same. They'd better have somethnig stronger lined up as second single though..

when you look at this video compared to the one for 'NGA' the change is UNBELIEVABLE. Yes, its about 3 years on, but still!

They don't look bad but they're getting their tits out for the sake of getting their tits out.

I can see this missing the top 5, in fact, it might becoming their first flop. It's a grower and that will turn against them. That and the fact that this is far from their best single. I'd rank it above "I'll Stand By You" and maybe "Jump" but that's it!

Was that article posted here where Cheryl Tweedy ranted at Charlotte Church for "copying their sound"? I was much amused. Then she said, "Charlotte can have our OLD sound anyway if she wants, why we are busy progressing and developing our NEW sound." :D

I just hope someone has seen sense and held the stronger songs back for later. So this could work in their favour as yet, with this being a grower and all..

Halli
22-07-2005, 12:50 AM
I think this should make the top 5 though! ??

Devil
22-07-2005, 01:53 AM
Yeah, I'd say it should. Then again, downloads will work against it, and if something like "The Show" could only do 28,600 or whatever, this one may struggle to do over 25k. That should see top 5, but maybe not top 3, which isn't good for their comeback.

Halli
22-07-2005, 05:16 PM
Yeah, but having said this, they surprised everyone with their strong album sales last time didnt they - with two top 3/5 singles Im sure their album will do the business again, even if they aren't getting the #1's

If someone's been thinking in CAMP ALOUD, then Long Hot Summer won't be the best song on the album. The song you release first naturally has more drive and public interest, so it doesn't need to be the best song for doing well.
