Burn them as an audio CD then import them in the desired format.
That's the way around the iTunes Music Store's protection.

Yeah, as Christian said. It's a bit of a hastle but it's the only way around it. I just burn them onto a re-writable CD and then transfer them into my iPod.

You need to burn them as in make them playable on a cd player ?
Or can you just burn them as "data" files, if you get my drift...

Well I burn them on WMP to make them playable on a CD then transfer them to the iPod.

Make them CD player playable. That'll reduce them to some standard CD readable format (AIFF or whatever) which doesn't have built in copy protection.
If you use a CD-RW like Toyah said, you won't waste a disc either if you don't want to keep em.

AH, so THAT'S the way around it. Pity there isn't an easy converting program. Real audio is a PARTICULAR cunt of a format that you can't convert or use.

i don't have audacity, i remember downloading it for SOME reason, but something about it was off
are you sure it'll work? cause if there's no other way i'll have to reluctantly give audacity another go

You CAN convert real audio files with a program called 'Super' I downloaded from http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html. It's converted all the ra files I've downloaded to mp3 without problem.
I've also used it for converting avi or wmv to mp4 to watch it on the iPod. I imagine it's capable of much more as well. It claims to do lots of other things I don't quite understand :D
I don't think it will convert protected files, though.

It works okay for me, it's how i take stuff from youtube or myspace et al. Did you have the file you need to export things you make as mp3s?
