Although I did like the bit where Kim turns into the HARD BITCH... But how could Sugar be so flippant and willing to have sex after being RAPED? Honestly...:zombie:

I DID watch this show - well, it WAS on after BB - and I quite enjoyed it as a guilty pleasure. :shy: For an ADULT "teen" show with swearing it was good... some things just didn't ring true though - the MUSIC was completely inappropriate to teens of the era - Marianne Faithfull etc - are these friends of VoR or something?!

And "Sugar" was an unlikely source of lust object for Kim - with a VERY predicable ending :daf: Sugar was dull and as thick as pigshit, no depth whatsoever beyond her looks. OK, so she was a free spirit and she admired her for that, but Kim was way too smart for her.

I really liked that Olivia actress who played Kim, very likeable and she made the show worthwhile. Is she a LYBIAN in real life? Patrick said something about her playing a dyke before.

I disagree actually, especially in the last episode I thought we could see just what the attraction was with Sugar. When she was telling her rape story to Kim in the diner and she was crying and said "Why can't anyone fall in love with me Kezza" it really highlighted her naivety. Kim was in love with the THICK MARE. I thought in that sense it was believable.

However the ages they were supposed to be playing (16???!) and the shitty sub-plots (weird parents and brother and losery boy who gets shagged, catholic group etc...) were what really let it down and sapped it of it's originality. That and the stupid "let's run away for sex" ending...

But the whole point was that she loved Sugah even though the addiction was a bad habit and she knew it was bad for her. The christian girl was so perfect for her that it was almost too good to be true for Kim, of course alot of this in my opinion has to do with how her parents were and even though she hated how they were she would also end up like them in the same situation. I do wonder if they will be a follow-up series, especially with so many loose ties and what not.

Personally I also felt they didn't make enough use of Kim's brother in the show who I think she should have taken with her as she really was more stable to look after him than either of her parents.

They're currently repeating this show on Channel 4 and i'm thoroughly enjoying it. These shows are normally let down by poor acting by the youths, (Queer As Folk being the prime example, great show but Charlie Hunnam was cringe-inducingly bad :zombie:), but Olivia Hallinan really is the best thing on the show! Wonderful actress! I hope this is a stepping stone to greater things for her.

I can understand her fancying Sugar in spite of everything. I had a similar experience myself. :shy: Remember for all her intelligence, she's a KID.

I agree, the last few episodes have been a bit samey - Saint gets arsey with Kim/Sugar has a shag/Stella and Nathan go swinging/Matt robs more of Stella's clothes...

I think it's the last one on E4 next week.

Though it still has it's moments, there hasn't been enough STELLA this series, and having Sugar in prison for the first half didn't work.

Oh, and Saint is really irritating, with her smug face and shit hat. Nikki from As If would have been a better long-term love interest.

I love Sugar Rush but I stupidly stopped watching 2 episodes ago thinking that it was the last episode (from the way they finished it off). I discovered there were more but missed an episode (grr!). So annoying, one of the best things on TV right now.

Actually going back to what I was saying about series 2 not being very good - I LOVED the episode the other week where they had to steal the money off that Russian guy! That was FUN! :D
