The final Destiny's Child releases are their "GH" album "#1's" and the new single "Stand Up For Love". I don't know why the album's called "#1's" though seeing as most of their songs DIDN'T make #1,but hey.

The artwork for single and album :

YUCK

Where's Get On The Bus?

And why don't people believe in chronological tracklistings anymore

Looks like abit of a rip-off...They could've added a few more NEW tracks

I have none of their albums so I'll be buying...They should've stuck a DVD onto it

I remember the days when I used to get excited about a new Destiny's Child single and video. Everything since Lose My Breath has completely PASSED MY BY.

I loved Lose My Breath but quite a few people seemed INDIFFERENT to it at the the time...Soldier & Girl were DULL though...I'm glad I didn't buy the album on the back of LMB

I remember the so-so reaction to 'Lose My Breath', most people thought it was just a dull generic Beyonce off-cut but I think now most fans would put it up there with their very best.

I think Lose My Breath was definitely a grower. I remember thinking it sounded like a real MESS. I like it a lot now, but wouldn't put it up there with Bills Bills Bills or Get On The Bus...

Slave

I wouldn't put it right at the top, but pretty close to it, though it is only about a year old so chances are that it could sound a bit naff in another 2 or 3 years where a lot of their stuff doesn't. I guess people were also caught up in the fact that it was more of a return to form for Darkchild than DC.

Get On The Bus was EXCELLENT. I suspect the reason for it not being on, is cos they'd have to liscense it from Blackground

Loufoque

Nasty Girl should be on there too.

I'm surprised they haven't put Crazy in Love on there as well or an exclusive Michelle Williams solo track :daf:

Oh yes, Nasty Girl over Cater 2 U any day.

Their last album really is horrible. I only played it once. Not even worth the £2.99 it cost. I do like the Maurice Joshua mix of Soldier though. Polishes a turd pretty well.

They really should have released Through with love instead of soldier or girl and a rather weak tracklist for a GH....and whats the pink panther song?

Loufoque
11-09-2005, 09:24 PM
YES. How Through With Love wasn't released will remain an eternal mystery! It was the only other track besides Lose My Breath that was worth my £1.99 purchase

I really like 'Destiny Fulfilled'...though I've never bought their other albums (I will one day as they're all so cheap but it's just getting round to it). I can well imagine that in comparison to the others albums it's rubbish (I can tell that on the basis of the singles) but when I'm in the mood for a decent R&B album that has a few good songs but ultimately is background music I think it's really nice, though that shouldn't have been the kind of thing they were producing at ALL.

To be honest, Survivor wasn't that great either. At least it had a bunch of good singles and a few decent album tracks. It was really just The Writing's On The Wall that set the high bar - I really don't think there was a bad track on that album, which is almost unheard of on a 17 track R&B album.

The less said about the debut the better.

Why is it called Number 1's? Matthew Knowles really is trying to get them to legendary status :manson:

What were their US #1s anyway?

Bills, Bills, Bills
Say My Name
Independent Women

Were No, No, No, Lose My Breath Jumpin' Jumpin' or Survivor #1?

Survivor is a particularly HORRIBLE album. Absolutely CHOCK-A-BLOCK with "will-this-do" by-the-numbers R&B.

Writing On The Wall is, however, rather fine, although I wouldn't say it didn't have ANY weak tracks. The singles are all rather marvellous though and there's a few cracking album tracks (Where'd You Go in particular).

I think Destiny Fulfilled is pretty good all in all... it's more of a Soul album than a up to date, modern sounding R&B one. It has a nice retro filled and is rather chilled & mellow. Quite how Through With Love missed out on a single release is absolutely BAFFLING though.

All in all, Destiny's Child were NO MATCH for the mighty TLC

Christian

Hmmm.... DEBATABLE.

The C - funkier, better tunes on the whole but let down by rather crappy vocals

The Child - stagier & on the whole DULLER but fabulous vocals & rather more together.

Hmm the link to the "AOL First Listen" of "Stand Up For Love" works now,but I'm not impressed.

Good vocals as usual, but really BORING! :(

The Child - stagier & on the whole DULLER but fabulous vocals & rather more together.Destiny's Child were probably the better singles act, but while they were technically good live, by GOD were they dull. Seeing Beyoncé running around, swinging her weave around like in the midst of an epileptic fit and bellowing at the crowd while Kelly & Michelle mimed along to backing vocals for the SIXTIETH time lost its appeal somewhat.

Christian

Beyonce's weave should have had a solo spot all to ITSELF

That sounds like a fairly accurate representation of what I would expect from a DC concert. Although I can't imagine TLC to be much better. Surely Lisa would have spent most of the concert bellowing "make some noissssse!" down the mic...

DC are bland as shit in concert... and Beyonce sounds TERRIBLE live doing the faster songs

that said, they have released some FABULOUS singles (but seem to have just as much shit songs that are album tracks)

Agree there, I'd love Where'd You Go.

I really enjoy TWOTW, Survivor and Destiny Fulfilled. All three are strong r&b albums, all really different too. One is general r&b, one is completely commercial and one is a soft, down-tempo one. Good variation.

Survivor was an awful apart from the singles and 2 or 3 tracks, The writings is their best album but still not a huge fav of mine I like them as a single act but their albums always fall short and by not releasing Through with love they messed the chance of a good GH...And i can't abide them solo as a group they are fine but each on their own are not half as good.

I think the only single I'd replace 'Through With Love' with is 'Cater 2 U' or 'Soldier'. 'Girl' wasn't all that special but it didn't annoy me whereas I don't think they ever really suited ballads and 'Soldier' just pisses me off.

Rubbish!

there a few good tunes on their debut [honest!] which theyve totally snubbed.

SORRY but their first album was POOR. I wouldn't have said no to With Me though.

They could put the Matthew Marsden track on for a LARF as well

En Vogue were better than DC or TLC IMO, of course

The Mathew Marsden duet was AWFUL :D he vocals were so weak...I did like The Hearts Lone Desire though :shy:

How could you forget Bootylicious making #1, Lou?

It stopped Loverboy form topping the 100

Loufoque

4 She Can't Love You
5 Jumpin', Jumpin'
6 Bootylicious

SORRY but their first album was POOR. I wouldn't have said no to With Me though.

Oh absolutley. It is bad but they should just gloss over it. They could have put on the ballad version of with me and the slow version of no no no.

Why am I not surprised?

Imagine poor Matthew Marsden now. I'm sure he goes around telling everyone that he was once big enough to get Destiny's Child to FEATURE on one of his singles

They probably just don't want to pay La Toya & La Tavia any royalties... Isn't that why they had Michelle re-record vocals for The Writing's On The Wall?

JESSICA SIMPSON also had a song featuring the Destinys, hence she's the biggest star

Yeah. Woman In Me :D

There really was no need for them on it...just backing vocalists...the song itself was rather AVERAGE

You can still hear Beyonce warbling away on it though. It's not that great however, I'd say it fits in more with the 'Destiny Fulfilled' album though is a bit more pop.
