Me too, thought Carmen Silva was only about 45 or so when the series started.

Gruber was the gay one. I didn't know the General had died - he wasn't that old

To be strict, Gruber was bisexual, as he did end up marrying Helga and having 6 children! :smoke:

He married Helga...*shouts*...'HE MARRIED HELGA!' I didn't know that. I watched Allo Allo on and off. I wasn't a big fan, but I did like the moments with the old woman in the bed and Rene getting off with the barmaids and then Edith walking in and he says' YOU STUPID WOMAN!' Oh and Helga shouting.

It all happened in the final ever episode. The war came to a close with Nouveon liberated by the British, then it cut to a time in the future (I'm guessing around 1975-ish).

Rene and Edith were now very old, Edith in the bed virtually like her mother was. Yvette and Mimi were still waitresses, albeit much greyer ones. Rene and Edith had an adopted son, who looked exactly like the younger Rene (except with more hair).

Gruber had become a multi-millionaire art dealer, with Helga as his wife and Von Strohm as his driver, who returned to Nouveon for old times sake.

The painting of the Fallen Madonna was found inside the statue of Rene after Gruber accidentally knocked the arm off. Whilst the others went into the cafe, Rene and Yvette made off in Gruber's car with the painting to finally start their new life together.

I never saw that final episode - it sounds shite. Gruber would never have married Helga . What happened to Herr Flick?

Herr Flick we last saw in 1945 - he, Von Smallhousen and the German officers were taken into custody.

He and Von Smallhousen had planned to escape in a couple of tin baths to a waiting submarine, but the passage Von Smallhousen had made went off course and brought them out in the cafe.
