God, Aller Plus Haut is fucking GORGEOUS isn't it! Aimer Jusqu'a l'impossible is lovely too. What do other french music fans think of it?

Has she had any other good 'uns?

Well "Tu Es Toujours Là" is also very good.
I also know "Les Trois Cloches" which is quite nice..and that's where my french Tina knowledge ends!

I only know the songs mentioned here. They're good but I prefer her English stuff.

Quite a good video actually. :o I really love this song now despite the cheesy lyrics "Je m'appelle Bagdad....Et je suis tombée sous le feu des blindés" :D :daf:

Sony dropped her 2 years ago :(

I did like her 2nd & 3rd albums...I didn't know she was still popular in France

Have you got the album Alex? It's quite good I think, could do with a few more upbeat songs though.

I know she parted ways with Sony in Australia but the new album was released through them so she must still be on a Sony France contract.

£9.44 including p&p from caiman-usa on amazon, is brand new too. I've used them for quite a lot of random French purchases and never had any problems!
:D

About the same as me then, just wanted to make sure you didn't get ripped off as Amazon.fr were a lot more expensive.

If you can find a download of it, there's a version of "Aller plus haut" with a choir that is AMAZING!

i'm not sure i'd fancy that too much
i love it the way it is - a slow builder, that just wrecks emotional havoc on its way through you

Thank you VERY MUCH!No problem! It's from a whole album done in a similar fashion.

I can't seem to get on with the choir version of Celine's "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" - probably because I know the original so well...

Frozen

Oh I wouldn't mind hearing that either, just out of curiosity. I doubt it'd improve on the original but would still be worth a listen.

There's a live performance of "Aller plus haut" on youtube that she does with a 500 piece choir, I'd go so far as to say it's OUTSTANDING :shy:

Does she sing live on that too or is it just the choir backing up a recording of her (which is what the CD version sounds like...)?

Frozen

I'd say the performance on youtube is live. Either that or she's pretty damn good at miming :D

Christian

Just seen it - very nice and DEFINITELY live!

Seems the concert was done in October 2005 and Celine was there along with the rest of the people who duet with the choir on the album. OOH.

She's brilliant live, saw in Sydney in 2003, one of the best concerts I've been to. She released a live CD/DVD last year that I've got if you want any of the songs?

Christian
27-04-2006, 11:59 AM
She's never really done much for me. I didn't like "Chains" much so have pretty much ignored her since then. The only other one I know is 'Aller Plus Haut' and that's only because it's on that "500 Choristes" CD. Am I missing out..?

Frozen

Have you not heard "Les trois cloches" or "Aimer jusqu' impossible" then? Both excellent. Her third album "Just me" is probably her strongest, it's more dance-pop oriented than her previous two with some tracks produced by Nile Rodgers, I'll put some up when I get home tonight

Alex

I have to say in "Aller Plus Haut" her pronunciation of "mains" really makes me cringe every time.... :sour:
