I did say in another thread it's shit, I really don't get the hype for it. The ending really is one of the worst I've ever seen.

hype? HYPE? there was hype for this offensively stupid and insipid piece of film?

Ooooooooooo I'm REALLY looking forward to this though... :(

But it's not really a Tarantino movie is it? He's just the executive producer. He has neither written nor directed it, and probably has had very little input. I suspect his name's just been attached to it to sell tickets, and evidently it's working...

awful, awful, awful
please don't waste money on this

watch gigli instead or something

which is my BIGGEST problem with it
as a tarantino fan i went to see it only because of the QT presents line
SURELY the bastard knows what a piece of shit he's presenting

seriously, i have never gone out of a cinema as furious as i did last night

There has been a LARGE amount of hype.

I'm curious ameraal, presumably you went into it expecting lots of gruesome scenes and blood and all that sort of business. Isn't that what you got?

ameraal
24-03-2006, 04:58 PM
i expected a scary, half-intelligent flick with the decent amount of suspense
what you get is ultimately a slow, retarded, badly acted, funnily unfunny movie with a couple of gross, gory, graphic scenes thrown in

we were seriously thinking of going out of it half-way through

and i'm the kind of guy who appreciated a good gory film like texas massacre or even saw

I haven't seen any hype.

And I hate the way his name gets attached to everything just because he once brushed past the director in a coffee shop or something. The guy has only directed about six 'hollywood' movies. ENOUGH

So is there a story of some sort or is it just gore? a friend of mine saw it months ago and just came out saying "it's DISGUSTING".

Oh I was quite looking forward to seeing that this weekend :(

It cant be any worse than The Fog. Fog with sailor ghosts in it killing people? UTTER RUBBISH

And I also went to see The Hills Have Eyes and that was just the film WRONG TURN but in the DESERT

I am a most disgruntled cinema gower at present...

I shall be watching Transamerica soon and Failure To Launch for a bit of trash. Hostel was the only one of this silly bunch of horror films being released at the moment that I wanted to see. I think I'll give it a miss though.

ameraal
24-03-2006, 05:10 PM
oh, i saw the fog, yes this IS worse :D

and it has a storyline - SPOILER - in a small town outside of bratislava a company elite hunting organises kmurdering people in small stinky rooms - you want to kill a european you pay 5k, you want to kill an american you pay 25k

and of course you get lured into it in a cheap hostel by topless eastern european sluts

UGH

it does, actually
perhaps ONE more person should see it so they can confirm its shitness

It's from the director of "Cabin Fever" which is enough to keep me away from the cinema. There really is fuck all in at the minute that's worth seeing.

LOVED 'Cabin Fever'... truly sick and fabulous. :D I also really enjoyed 'The Hills Have Eyes'.

'The Fog' was possibly the worst film I've ever seen at the cinema though. HOGWASH.

I love horror movies generally though. Looking forward to 'An American Haunting' most - it's supposed to be in a similar vein to 'The Others'.

I do like a good horror. However the latest bunch seem to be more about the gore than giving an actual good scare. I've not seen "The Fog" yet but all the reviews I've read have been dire, I really dunno how they managed to mess it up given that the original is pretty great

The Original Fog is a great little chiller, but it'd never work in a jump out of your seat kind of way. It's a proper old school film, i'm not surprised an update doesn't translate well.

Okay so by hype, I meant a couple of articles in Total Film and Empire and the like saying it's the sickest film ever made. This was before they'd seen it, and TF have given it 3 stars since, saying it's not as sick as they thought or something.

Eugh, Hostel was vile. Complete gore which just makes me so queezy. I spent half the movie looking at the wall trying not to see all the blood/guts. I know that's the point of the movie, but still...

Saw this today (not my choice). I found the whole thing very uncomfortable, and was squirming throughout, but as it turned out nothing in it was anywhere near as gruesome as I had expected. Except maybe the foot thing.

The ending was laughably SHIT, but I really didn't think the whole film was too bad. I quite liked the atmosphere of it, and the lead-up to the action was actually pretty effective. It also didn't hurt that Jay Hernandez is a fucking BEAUT.

I should have gone to see this instead...

I saw it tonight. I must saw i was disappointed. There was no plot to speak of at all. The first 30 minutes looks like some cheap porno flick.

Some of the death scenes were SICK, especially when Josh got his achllies tendon sliced :zombie: and when the asian chick's eye was cut off.

As someone has already said, it's from the maker of 'Cabin Fever'. That should give some warning to how shit this would be....

I was soooo glad his character ended up living and being the main guy :horny:

yeah? i wished they'd cut his cocker off (as well as everyone else's involved in the movie) by the end

Just back from seeing this. It wasn't a bad movie but I had to turn away a few times cos of the gore. Far better than the director's previous movie (not that that'd be hard) but still not all that great.

My friend saw this and said it was utterly sick and told me about the rape scene :zombie:

She was actually sick into her mouth when she watched it apparently..... :wired:

!!!

I didnt even realise she'd been raped until someone said about it after the movie. I thought he was just titting her up or something, its not like they were together for more than a minute or so

Well I got the UNRATED version of Hostel on DVD since I didn't go see when it was released.

WHAT A SHIT FILM :manson:

The gore wasn't even that good to make up for the stupid plot. The only thing that scared me was the bad acting and the amount of tits on screen.

It was very hard for me to get through the movie. Not because it was bad (actually, it's quite interesting as viewed from the political context), but because the implication of what's happening far outweighs the gore you see. The look on that kid's face when his heels are sliced had me shaking.

"Cabin Fever" was shit but this one had it's redeeming features... even though I won't be in a rush to see it again anytime soon.

I think if they fleshed out the secret society thing more and spent less time on guys trying to get pussy it could have turned out better.

One of the most disgusting movies I've ever seen if not THE most disgusting. I saw it a week ago and I'm STILL disturbed by it. I can't believe the whole fucking town was involved even the police. Sick on every level. But not a BAD movie per se except for all the tits and ass.

Joseph
23-04-2006, 02:22 AM
I didn't find it disturbing at all

the cutting of the guy's feet wasn't that shocking (it was more scary in Pet Cemetary when the little boy did it) and the burned Asian girl's face was more comedy than anything
