Which probably means just myself and Indie really, but this is place for discussing our Ashes-holding side.

Australia?

Sild

The 1st test against Sri Lanka starts on May 11th - my preferred team:

Trescothick
Cook
Strauss
Key
Collingwood
Pietersen
Flintoff
Read
Udal
S Jones
Anderson

Won't happen in a million years, but one can but hope.

I was quite amused by who's just been announced to host the 2011 world cup... Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India. Isn't that almost HALF of the regular cricketing nations?

Sild
01-05-2006, 01:27 PM
Pretty much so yes. Seems very much over the top - India or Pakistan could hold it by themselves quite easily.

Well done MARCUS for yesterday

Is it just on Sky now? How CRAP otherwise I might have indulged a bit. I like a bit of cricket now and again. Looks like we're doing VERY NICELY

Sild

Alas, yes. There's highlights on 5 every day with Nicholas, Boycott and Hughes. Sky's coverage has improved, but it does need to be on terrestial.

I had my doubts about Mahmood it MUST BE SAID

Very poor captaincy by Flintoff in the end - he overbowled himself and Hoggard, and gave Panesar about half the overs he should've done. Throwing the ball to Collingwood and maybe even Pietersen/Trescothick would at least have mixed it up a bit.

Only change to the squad for Thursday is dropping Baby Bell. And thank goodness.

Great start considering we lost the toss - SL are 23/3 already.

Sild

excellent start for England... but the same happened the first test and look what happened. Plus the weather is fucking UNPREDICTABLE at the moment...

Sild

It does look like the catches are sticking this time though, unless you're Strauss or Panesar.

The key questions are when Vaughan and Harmison return, who goes? Plunkett/Mahmood is a doesn't-really-matter choice really, but the Vaughan one is interesting.

Cook or Collingwood are the likely contenders, but given their current form I wouldn't be surprised if Strauss isn't in the mix either.

Lewis in for Mahmood today - and another good performance from our bowlers. SL really don't have the depth in batting now that they had 10 years ago.
