I couldn't get onto Yahoo (The page cannot be displayed) which is a bit pf a pisser because I use yahoo mail... now that is working but I can't get onto eBay.... also the moopy amazon links are just red boxed... as is half of amazon.

I know there's a quick fix for this but it's never happened to me before... (I just upgraded to norton 2006 from 2005... maybe it's to do with that?)

I was getting this earlier, but its all okay again now...

It's probably just your ISP being a bit nobby tonight

Yeah, I had issues with Hotmail, Google, BBC, Amazon earlier...

I think it's gone now...

It's a (fairly) common problem with ntl. It just means the particular proxy is either overloaded, or the other site sees all these requests from the same IP number and thinks there's a problem, blocking access.

If it happens again, just change the proxy server / cache to one which is less busy.

The ebay problem is a known issue with ntl /ebay. It's been going on since last december.

A list of proxy servers for ntl is here:

UGH... NTL don't provide ADSL anymore (to new customers) so I guessed they might be trying to get rid of everyone they do have... (I've only had problems the last few weeks...). On the site they send new customers to their 'sister' company virgin.net so I phoned them asking if I could just transfer over but apparently not. I have to cancel ntl as normal. So I phoned ntl and the recorded voice said there is a problem with adsl broadband and they know about it and phone another number. So I phone the other number and it says 'sorry there are technical difficulties and we can't take your call'. CUNTS.
