Carragher didn't actually play TOO bad in the defensive midfield position. Better than Carrick did against Belarus but then again that's not saying much.

Not a bad performance. The thing I don't get about Carragher is why the need for so many bloody central midfielders if you're thinking of playing him there? It means you have about four players jostling for a central midfield berth alongside Lampard. Why the need for all those players? We'd be much better served by getting rid of one of them and bringing in another striker. Arggh. It just confounds all logic in my opinion.
On the positive side it was nice to see Beckham back in good form and nice to see Crouch on the scoresheet. Not convinced that Owen playing pretty much as a lone figure is really going to work though...
