I love their vest tops. Cheap and cheerful and in every colour you can imagine.

That is all.

I used to be snobby about them, but when you need something basic they are great. I swear by their opaque tights for starters. £2 for 2 pairs and they're just as good as M&S £4 a pair ones. WHY PAY MORE?

For fashion items (eg. things you are only going to wear a few times) there really isn't a point in paying more. But sometimes, you need a good cut and fabric so that it will continue to look good.

I haven't bought anything really cheap since I could afford not to, but my hairdresser is urging me to accessorise cheaply via matalan, primark etc.

BUT if I had a baby, I'd wear joggers and t-shirts from asda all the time. All that sick!

Socks, tights, vests, undershirts, oh yes.

They do great jeans for £12. There was a write-up about them in Standard Lite recently.

And I love their trainer socks, and colourful knickers too!! I need to go back this weekend to get some tops for work... can't wear my winter/spring stuff no' mo'.

Even our shitty little town doesn't have one.

I've actually only ever been in one in my life. Sadly, I never bought anything.

Aren't Primark taking over what is now House Of Fraser when Broadmead is redeveloped? I think HoF is going to a showpiece store in the bit that's currently being developed.

And Harvey Nicholls where Poundstretcher used to be, of course!

Doesn't "Ethel Austin" just look so unbelievably SHIT in comparison?

Aside from the fact that it's fairly shit anyway.

There's now one in town...

With the impending property slump I'm hoping to get on the homeowning ladder!

Still shits on Ethel Austin.

Is anyone else's town/city unlucky enough to be blessed with a "Bon Marche"?

David
01-07-2006, 01:47 AM
Yeah, we have a Bon Marche, a Primark, a Matalan, a Mark One and TJ Hughes (basically more of the same)...

TK Maxx seems upmarket round here :D

Ethel Austin? What a dreadful name for a shop. I don't think we have one.

We did have a shop called 'Maudie Trollope's Emporium' which sold clothes for the older woman, but it's closed now :(

Like primark only 100 times shitter and poorer quality (though some of the kids clothes are OK)

Kate

None in Cambridge, unsurprising since it's too posh for Primark.

Thank god for TK MAXX

yeah something like that.

in oxford where i'm from they've got a massive primark in the building that used to be alders department store - looks like primark are buying up loads of ex-department stores.

they're taking over the the world!!

They've been "building" one in Portsmouth for the last 6 months where the littlewoods used to be. I'm quite looking forward to it opening. Its great for throwaway items.

Worst shopping centre ever. Their Heffer's is the worst excuse for a bookshop I've ever seen.
