View Full Version : Where should I HOLIDAY?

My requirements:
1) Be somewhere with a beach
2) Not be within 100 miles of Eastbourne (i turned down a week with my parents in that area so i'd better have something different on the cards)
3) CHEAP - i.e. UK
I was thinking Cornwall.. I like Devon a lot, but I've been there so many times. I'm taking my 20yr old nephew too
How much do you think a week in Cornwall would set me back? I can't tow a caravan so it would either be some hotel or a static
My boss says he wants me to decide when to have mine before he books his .. which is good but I hadn't really planned anything

I've heard Newquay is good
Or what about The ISLE OF WIGHT?
it's just as cheap to get a package to europe at this time of year as it's still reletively early in the season.
you'd be able to get a week in somewhere like gran canaria or the costas for about £250 i would have thought.

what ABOUT the isle of wight? Is it good, or is this some Rachey joke I don't know about? :p
I'm trying to remember whereabouts I went in Cornwall about 15 yrs ago, it was lovely.. kinda like the place in Devon we go, but .. well, not in Devon!
Polzeath?

Do you know... apparently Beirut is a FABULOUS place to party. I mean seriously.

I suppose .. but my nephew is on a low income, and I can't really afford for both of us to go to Europe. Driving there would just be convenient, and we can go to a bigger variety of places without relying on public transport

You can Eurostar to Belgium from £59 return. They have some really nice camp sites.

You dont think it would be too late to book somewhere in the UK do you? I know these things are booked quite far in advance :zombie:

Depends how soon you are thinking of going. I booked my holiday to Devon about this time last year for September no problem.
If you camp you shouldn't need to book at all.

I might even try a Haven or something .. at least I know it will be kitted out and they're more likely to have different sizes of statics

Make sure you pick up the Haven Theme Song. It's GAY-TASTIC.

have you had a look in a Hoseasons brochure? they are all independent holiday parks and usually a HELL of a lot cheaper than Haven.

Does it have the MOD CONS?
first week of September looks manageable, unless Cornwall SHUTS as soon as August finishes?

Oh yeah, some of the parks are great i went here (http://www.welcomefamily.co.uk/index.php) through Hoseasons last year and it was great and only cost £300 for 3 people for a fortnight.

The Isle of Wight.....it might not be 100 miles from Eastbourne...but by going on the ferry accross the water you will feel like you are going abroad!
AND its beautiful, relaxing and cheap.
AND you can even camp in Rachey's garden!

are you blind? i said it'll probably end up cheaper tp go abroad than the UK if you get a cheap last minute package deal.

cheap fun :)
Nothing wrong with that!
Obviously im biased, but ive dealt with thousands of holiday makers over here and ive NEVER met anyone who has a bad word to say about the island while visiting here.
Rachey should get an OBE thing for services to the Isle of Wight!
