I reckon England suffer from over-confidence and shouldnt underestimate T&T. It'll be close I think.

Cracker from Gerrard. Now, I'm starting to think England might actually have this in them. If they've stopped plodding and found the formula, they're going to be fun to watch now.

I know he scored and such, but England CANNOT depend on Crouch. He isn't very good, missed LOADS of goal opportunites. BRING BACK ROO!

YAY YAY WINNERS

To play an ENTIRE GAME
Rooney wont be playing any entire games until after the world cup, methinks.

Depends. Owen isn't up to par, so Roo's needed now basically.

I felt a bit sorry for Trinidad & Tobago at the end. They defended their hearts out and unlike the Sweden game, created quite a few chances themselves.

I knew it would be tougher than a lot of people were predicting, but England were average at best and if they don't improve, they will be lucky to make it past the second round, even if they end up playing Ecuador.

Definitely take out Crouch and Carragher, even if the former scored, he can always be a super sub if need be but he's just an awkward and annoying striker to watch. Neville is missed.

I think Owen needs to be given a full 90 mins, he's not that bad, he just needs more time. I am glad Rooney didn't score today when he was brought in the early 2nd half, it would be BEDLEM, I already had to mute the button everytime the bloody commentators went on about Rooney and panned to him warming up. Realistically, he is not going to be match fit until August, if he does score goals in this WC it's from a bit of luck.

I think Owen's being treated a little unfairly. He's England's 4th highest ever goalscorer and has scored in every major championship since 1998.

Yes, he was poor against Paraguay and not much better today. But if you take him off after 55 minutes each game, then he's not getting the chance to get fully match fit, it's going to knock his confidence and it's also putting a lot of pressure on him to get a goal in the first half, when there's been so many times when he's played crap for 80 mins and then scored right at the end.

And I completely agree about Rooney. I hope he doesn't get the credit for England winning when it was mainly the Lennon substitution that changed things for us.

Personally I thought it was a thrilling game... a Gerrards goal... CHOICE

It was brilliant compared to the Paraguay match, and despite his goal I do wish they'd take Crouch off, he fucks up so many opportunities - falling over himself in the box. I really liked that Lennon player, never heard of him before!

Oh and T&T hardly bothered to try and attack, 90% of their game was solid defence.

Crouch & Beckham were behind MOST of our chances in that game - taking the former out would be a bad move - as I recall Owen only had one decent chance & missed.

Tell you who was poor - Lampard. The goal is NOT above the crossbar.

Lampard was probably the best player of the whole game.

TNT did really well, never exploding, but...

I felt quite sorry for them in the end, they did so well against these multi-millionaires. Apparently two people died from excitement back in Trinidad when they drew against Sweden in their first game.

Which seriously depletes their population!

Looking forward to the endgame in this group; Eng vs Swe... Half of our team obviously already playing in England, maybe this will be a game to watch! Where's Sven's mobile number, now...

Oops, that was nearly embarrasing, but still, we're through which is GREAT. I thought John Terry was man of the match by a mile - great goal line clearance there in the first half. I'm really not sure about the striker pairing. Come the knockout stages i'm sure Rooney will start. Crouch is a useful player but on form Owen is a far better finisher, I just hope he gets back to his best soon really...
Incidentally, Lennon is very impressive, his introduction really helped change things for us. Great prospect...

EXACTLY.

How are we supposed to score goals against I team how defend SO well and put ten men behind the ball? Fair enough, England didn't exactly play EXCELLENT but there isn't that much more we could've done better, apart from the goalie not playing shit.

Have you already seen Crouch's foul, while making the first goal? Thx to the modern cams, they found out that it should have been a foul instead of a goal.

He is pulling the hair of the T&T guy. Sadly nobody recognized that scandal early enough. Nothing will happen. Crouch - the most ugly player I saw so far - won't get a punishment for that.

Congratulations! :p

I can't find a better pic. On TV you can see it much better. It was a foul. I agree that it's not THAT CLEAR on the pic.

Err ... we won 2-0 anyway. It wouldn't have mattered if the goal was DISCOUNTED.

Världen
16-06-2006, 11:47 AM
That's not true.
Who knows you would have scored the 2nd goal if the first one had been discounted.
The match could have gone completley different.
It was anything else than fairplay and Crouch should be banned for 2 games.
