View Full Version : So who got the Franz Ferdinand album then?

Arrived in the post this afternoon, and I must say it's FANTASTIC. As an album it's more satisfying and coherent than the recent Coral one (although it doesn't make NATSOB any less a fine album).

No skippable or 'chaff' tracks at all, everything is vital. Apart from the singles, stand-outs are Jacqueline, Auf Achse (such a GREAT intro) and Michael (which could have benefited from being slower to allow more emphasis on the lyrics, but it's still great anyway).

Overall = 9/10

"dark of the matinee" is my fave apart from the two singles

its rather fun... but it doesn't stand up to the Bobby Conn, Air or Tv On The Radio albums...

It's FUN as mr gx6 says. Bouncy tunes and quirky lyrics. And they look GREAT :D

Indie's right on the money here....despite the brilliance of tracks 2-5(especially the BLINDING 'Auf Achse') and possibly 'Michael', the rest is a collection of obvious Talking Heads-isms and sub-Cocker looks at like, fancying girls and stuff...... They only had 4songs to their name this time last year, I get the feeling they rushed these far too much....

The second one SHOULD be mind-blowing though...

There's huge piles of them in every shop in Glasgow, with the 2 disc edition already having vanished. Bit skint so it'll need to wait a couple of weeks before I can indulge. Or not.

GOT IT.

on first listen... quite a decent album :) nothing really stands out apart from the two singles, but a couple of other songs are noteworthy ("cheating on you", "michael" in particular) some tracks seem to go on far too long without really accomplishing anything... others are less than brilliant ;) still, rather good, will listen to a bit more before i set my judgement in stone :angel:

Feckin Brill, been listening to Jacqueline loads, love it when the bass and guitars kick in after 43 seconds, sounds feckin awesome on the old headphones!
Must listen more, are they rereleaseing darts of pleasure? They should, just for the ending!

"Tell Her Tonight" is my favourite after "Take Me Out"... that wonky guitar hook is just FABULOUS... ahhh reminds me of wonky early Orange Juice. *sigh*

I say MICHAEL for next single though... it's hopefully catchy enough to do well
