..were quite an odd pop band music wise, I think
I found their greatest hits LP last night, hidden under a pile of something and they released some really crap, and really odd singles that I never realised in my teenage naivety
I Am Blessed was one - a very obvious metaphor for God, and a very obvious way of the devious Easther Bennett getting her saviour into the charts. Imagine the Sugababes trying to release that today...nice song though - shocking vocal acrobatics
Then there was the frankly hilarious Don't You Love Me, complete with a childs choir (Who I believe held candles, in a Christingle-like manner on TOTPs), the truly vile Someday and the basically crap single choices So Good (Complete with sleazy saxaphone), Crazy and Secrets
Yet despite all this, their greatest hits is rather mega, Angel Of Mine is greatness
Why they never released Never Gonna Give You Up from Always and Forever, which was a brilliant pop track, I will never know...still bitter about that till today

I loved Eternal at the time but by GOD did they do some hokum- the lyrics on "Dont You Love Me" being the primest example
No denying the sheer greatness of stuff like "Just A Step From Heaven" though....

It's a shame how much the first 2 albums have dated. I absolutely adored them at the time. The less said about 'Don't You Love Me' the better.

I always thought Stay was rather overrated (and I Wanna Be The Only One) Save Our Love and Just A Step were far lovlier, although I seem to remember Just A Step being rather overlooked chartwise at the time
I'm sure I read in an old Smash Hits that somebody got their bum out in the Save Our Love video, which sounds quite shocking is this true?
And did Easther Bennett marry Shane Lynch in a tack-tastic oriental themed wedding, wearing a red gauze gown, or is my brain playing the tricks on me..?

No votes for "What'cha Gonna Do"?
Anyway I liked some of their "hokum". "I Am Blessed" and "Someday" are lovely and "Don't You Love Me" IS a good pop song if you ignore the lyrics...
I'll have to think about the order...too hard to pick a standout favourite, they have dozens of great songs but nothing truly outstanding...
'Angel Of Mine' is luvverly

I have the Always and Forever video here (shocking I know - thought it would be funny to watch now) - In the 'save our love' video, Kelle wiggles her bum to the camera and her and Louise discuss it in the video saying which one of them actually did it. They don't actually moonie though - they do still have their clothes on!
And yes, Easther did have a cheezy marriage - how long did it last?

God YES! Monica has a marvellous coice, almost as good as Easthers, but the lyric changes she made were HORRIBLE.

The album version was so much better - I really liked the intro! But didn't Easther change her vocal in the single edit, in which I'm sure I prefered...!
The video for Just A Step was great wasn't it! I remember they went over to the US to shoot it...Louise looked great in it, bashing up against that fence haha!
Did Vernie Bennet, Kelle & Louise ever actually sing ANYTHING by the way?

Do you REALLY think Louise has sung anything in her LIFE?

Surprisingly enough, they did - they just got overlooked. They all sang on 'Crazy' and Vernie and Kelle often sang on their later stuff.

I think Louise is actually quite good, some of her stuff has been great. 'Beautiful Inside', '2Faced' and 'Light Of My Life' were great - actually, so was 'Undivided Love' too...

To think I used to genuinely wonder if those big diva screams at the end of 'Lets Go Round Again' were actually her.... :shy:
You NEVER see or hear 'Arms Around The World' these days.

Louise often used them big diva voices in her songs...I remember hearing her do a diva'ish yell once and she wasn't that bad!
'Arms Around...' was another good track - she's actually had a few good uns!
*Likes FAR more Louise songs than he does Eternal*
Power of a woman used to annoy the FUCK out of me....

I fail to see the appeal in Eternal. I liked about three of their singles but any of the albums I heard were full of dull filler shite.

I only have the "Before The Rain" album. It's shit. "Grace Under Pressure" and "How Many Tears" were alright, then it goes tits up completely...

Did anyone hear Kelle's song "I'm Still Crying" on 'Before The Rain' that was a good track :)
I think Eternal were great, some of their album tracks deserved to be singles instead of 'So Good' 'Crazy' and 'Secrets'. I mean 'Redemption Song' and 'It Will Never End' from the 'Power Of A Woman' album were excellent. As was 'How Many Tears' from 'Before The Rain'... Its a shame that the 'Before The Rain' project was very short, due to Kelle wanting to leave the band and them rushing out a 'Greatest Hits'.
However, even some of the tracks from the duo's album 'Eternal' were great. 'Your Love Makes Me Weak' is very funky, and 'If She Breaks Your Heart' does sound a little similar to 'Angel Of Mine' but its very good. My personal fave from that album has to be 'Absent From You'.
I wish Easther would bring out some solo work.

Always & Forever was definetley their best album! Save Our Love, Just A Step From Heaven, So Good, Oh Baby I..., Crazy, Sweet Funky Thing were all fantastic! I didn't like Stay at the time but there's something nostalgic about it now.
Power Of A Woman this was very weak compared to A & F but still quite good! Power Of A Woman, I Am Blessed, Good Thing, Secrets, Who Are You, Redemption Song...were all brilliant!
Before The Rain  up until about a year ago I never listened to anything on this album besides the singles but it really isn't too bad! Someday was lovely, I really like Easthers voice on it, Don't You Love Me was very average...horrible lyrics, I Wanna Be The Only One I remember being really excited when this made #1  although it was well deserved :D...other songs I like are All My Love & What Do You Mean When You Say... Which would've been fantastic as a Christmas single, really nice it reminds me of a Vanessa Williams ballad!
Eternal was a good album *in small doses* It really didn't deserve it's lowly #87 CP...I love What'Cha Gonna Do :manson: 10 times better than DYLM, Treat Me Like A Lady, I Cry Real Tears, If She Breaks your Heart
I would put Louise's Naked & Woman In Me albums up there with Eternal's best...out of 4 of Kelle's solo tracks I heard I loved 3 shame she never got to release her album...It really is a disgrace Easther doesn't have a record deal with THAT voice...I wouldn't have minded hearing some solo songs by Vernie, she never was a fave of mine, her voice was quite good shame she didn't get to sing more in Eternal!
