Here are the contestants:

Francie: An eccentric 56-year-old who describes herself as "noisy, chatty and bossy".

Al: A 24-year-old Rik Waller lookalike who works as a fantasy fiction writer - albeit an unpublished one.

Erica: A 22-year-old kickboxing lapdancer from Bolton who "hates judgemental people".

Jonathan: An unemployed 42-year-old who admits to being "deliberately awkward" and annoying people for the sake of it.

Clare: A 23-year-old young Conservative from Surrey, who names Maggie Thatcher as her greatest idol.

Jason: An unemployed, reformed junkie of crack and heroin.

Alasdair: 19-year-old "Ally Humbo" brags to be "the most heterosexual man in Britain".

Lucinda: A "very dreamy" 26-year-old who believes all men want her.

Joe Chicken: A 33-year-old who adores animals and kissing his friends - whether they want it or not.

Ken: A 65-year-old ex-Royal Marine whose catchphrase is: "a man must have a knife, it's a fact of life".

Hassan: A 25-year-old nice guy construction worker from Suffolk.

Gemma: A 21-year-old from Essex who hates "really posh" people and confesses to never having "mixed with gays or lesbians".

Wendie: A Kathy Burke-lookalike who is a mother-of-four and full-time carer to her own mother.

The series, hosted by Danny Wallace, begins on Friday on BBC One, airing Sunday nights thereafter. Daily updates air on BBC Three.

saw clips this morning on breakfast news. New Zealand YAY!

but it seems they're trying to follow some v un-castaway reality tv rules, like introducing new people later in the show - and it's only for three months and not a year.

I'm sorry Tom, but his chin could house a small nomadic tribe.

When they filmed it on Taransay it was FUN as it was just off our island, so we used to go over and visit a lot! Though they never showed THAT..or the days they all went to the local CO-OP for food!

That is indeed true - I like a definite chin myself.

And then there's uberchin, which suggest gormlessness.
