View Full Version : Question about ports and that...
i've done the whole port forwarding thing and for ages my torrents were working like a dream.
now all of a sudden they are not going green in azurues and they are staying yellow which apparently means i have an NAT problem.
is this to do with ports and how do i fix it?

I get that sometimes, it can be your ISP.
I'd check:
1) what your router has been set up to forward to
2) ensure that Azureus is forwarding to that port
and the biggie, just go to portforward.com to double check your setup.
I'm going to rename this forum as the WIDGE FORUM.

i has a nasty feeling you would say that.
bugger.
well i don't have time at the moment but i guess i'll put it on the list of adminny things that need doing.
can the ISP do something that would alter your port settings then?
this has only just started happening after i had that issue with connecting to the wireless, which might just be a coincidence.

Mine fuck about with the amount of traffic I'm allowed through. Sometimes I can't connect to shit all. Not fun.

I was wanting to ask a similar question. My friend has a router and can't get soulseek to work, no results come up... so I suppose you'd have to configure the ports? I don't have a router anymore and it was a nightmare when I did have one.
you need to go to www.portforward.com and follow the instructions.

Soulseek has a TEST PORT button in its options somewhere too. As does Az actually. Check that out.

Cool. I hate Azeurus, I really have mixed fortunes with that one.. constant blue screen errors, though occassionally I can leave it on for days. Torrents are definitely the best for downloading albums.

Java. You need to make sure your java updates are always in place. That causes the BSOD.
I just use uTorrent. No hassle.
azureua has always fared well for my torrents.
i've just done the portforwarding thing again, this time i've changed the ports and static IP. now i need to test it out.
YAY i have a green torrent.

Oh god yeah, Static IP all the way! Lots of programs rely on knowing where your computer is. Rebooting/logging on refreshes your IP.

The static I.P was the biggest problem when trying to get it to "go green". I just ripped out Airport express and got rid of it and just worked off my router instead. It finally worked.

Widge - portforward worked for me in the end on eMule! Although I had to download the newer version because the old one was fucked. And it WAS the BT Homehub firewall that was causing the problem - Norton has not and still does not interfere with my P2P
yay!
