iPod help - Songs / Artists going missing?

I dont understand!

I noticed the other day that for some reason when i searched for songs by artists on my iPod, that my Britney album was missing. I then noticed 2 other albums were missing.

But when i searched by Songs, they were all there.

However, i never search bysongs, i always go by artists. How can i get them back? :(

how strange Rachey... have you tried updating your iPod from your PC to see if that helps ?

yes i updated it yesterday because i needed to add some more albums, and they all added ok. Theres about 3 albums nowthat have totally disappeared from the artists list but are available in the songs list, its really annoying :(

Well after some research it turns out this is a common problem with ipods apparently.

and i found out how to fix it! I had my Compilations turned on, and for some reason it messed up some of the artists, which meant Britney, Leann Rhymes and one of my W.estlife albums was missing.

I turned Compilations OFF and theyve come back. I have NO idea why.

Are those albums checked as compilations in the "get info" pane in iTunes?

I believe so yes! Though i dont get why Leann Rhymes is a compilation album.

Its all very confusing. I THINK all the artists are showing now.

You need to make sure all the information is filled in on your itunes - if you have lots of songs by one artist, but half of them are listed as being from an album and the other half don't have any album information at all, only the half where you put album information will show up

The easy way is just to go through your itunes and make everything is the same, so you either make sure every track is listed as being from an album or deleting album information off every track off your ipod

I hope that makes sense, its a bit annoying, they should just list every track from every artist like you would expect, but apparently not

oooh ok, see alot of my songs are dowloads from the internet, ive had some problems with them showing up though after 3 attempts i have managed it.

But my Britney songs were all from the same album and the whole thing vanished.

Just make sure everything is tagged correctly on the get info right click when you click on a song on itunes (But make sure its when you have your ipod open, otherwise it'll just change it on your computer and not on your ipod)

And make sure on the get info thingie everything is tagged the same - for example if you have Overprotected and IAS4U off Britneys Britney album, but IAS4U is tagged as being off the Britney album, but Overprotected album box is blank then only IAS4U will show up on your ipods Britney artists, so either delete all album info altogether, or change it so that Overprotected is also listed as being from the Britney album too, and it should show up
