REPLEASING bottom 3 this week!

David

You know who's gone then?

Do you? MOST pleasing...

I would have been happy for ANYONE in the bottom 3 to get the BOOT frankly.....

JPL and Ginger Nut are obviously in there then :p

And Jennifer was UTTERLY stunning this week, again! I love how she's TOTALLY pulled it back. One brilliant performance has reinvigorated her completely, she was about ready to go before 'Circle Of Life'.

She must have gone from bottom 3 to top 3 if last weeks groupings are in any way comparable to this weeks bottom 3!

I'm fucking ecstatic, though I don't personally mind the person who was sent back first... Still, America chose wisely...

The website has the semi-final performances from all the finalists, shockingly I rather liked Camile's...

I feel like I should stay out of this thread from now on if I don't want to know who's been booted.

Oh i've seen THEM...

I LOVED Amy's. It's a bit obvious; but i thought her vocal on it was really pretty.

Latoya's blew me away, as i think it did everyone.

Jennifer was great, though i don't know the song and her facial expressions are HLARIOUS...

Jasmine & Camille I wasn't familiar with the songs so can't really say. That Leah LaBelle was AWFUL though....

I'm saving the performance watching till tomorrow night, but I do like finding out beforehand...

You don't know 'Run To You'? From the Bodyguard?

MP3's of all the performances so far can be found HERE:

Jennifer's 'Circle Of Life' may well be my fave Idol performance EVER, UK OR USA....

Nope.... Never seen the film and to be honest any pre-1999 hits that aren't still getting big recurrent play or aren't by Louise will have passed me by....

I know it was AWFUL, but i really quite like Camille's 'Goodbye yellow brick road'.

To be honest, it's the application of a female vocal to a brilliant song. ALWAYS gonna win ME over.....

I have to say that a good few of my favourite Idol performances came from Australian Idol and South African Idol 2...

Haven't seen those.

However, Bardot had some good singles. I LOVED 'Poison' and 'These Days'

Isn't it great how the bottom 3 each week is SO unpredictable... it's like our last series! (May not bode well for the winner in that case...)

But Jennifer, Latoya, the two Johns & Jasmine have all been in and out of the bottom 3, while Diana has been in it pretty much constantly without ever leaving. Only George and Fantasia have yet to be that low.

Also, Amy, Camille and this weeks person (Not wanting to ruin it for Joey) went out after not being bottom 3 the previous week....

I notice Leah Labelle ended her Idol Exploits on 'You keep me hanging on'. Is that just the reality TV KILLER or something? Anyone who sings it invariably LEAVES that week.....

David
16-04-2004, 02:32 AM
She forgot the words and EVERYTHING!

Previously people who've sung it haven't NECESSARILY deserved to leave, she totally did!

VoR
16-04-2004, 02:34 AM
I DID wonder why she kept singing the "You don't really love me, you just keep me hanging on" bit over and over again!

Truly dreadful..... out of her depth in the extreme! She must be wishing she'd dyed her hair ginger beforehand ;)

David
16-04-2004, 02:39 AM
Thing was, I really liked her in her heat, when she did 'I Have Nothing'

David
16-04-2004, 02:41 AM
But how she got through the wildcard over the excellent Suzy Vulaca is beyond me!

VoR
16-04-2004, 02:43 AM
I agreed with Simon on her wildcard. She was TOTALLY average....

David

Good lord! I think you'd ADORE that movie!! Whitney may have lost it now, but she is GREAT in that film! Such a DIVA!

And 'Run To You' is beautiful. 'The Bodyguard' is her finest hour - 'Queen of the Night' is just fantastic... Please tell me you know that one?

I wanna hear Elkie Brooks' version of that again. That was a BLAST!

David

And I do tend to agree with Simon FAR more than I feel I should!

I don't watch AI, but Simon always seemed like the most sensible judge on the UK version. In fact, by a LONG LONG way. He wasn't too nice (Nicki), too erratic (Pete) or too out to impress (Neil) - said his thing and it could be nice, it could be horrible. But it was always honest.

David
16-04-2004, 03:04 AM
And he's not above admitting he was wrong... like with the Will thing in PI1

VoR
16-04-2004, 11:48 AM
He DID overrate Michelle McManus though. I thought her rendition of 'Don't Be A Stranger' was AWFUL.....

The only time I remember him criticising her was in week one, when he said Kim outsang her, which was TOTALLY true, but Kim outsang her for the next 2 weeks too....

Delighted to see JPL go, now I like all the remaining contestants. Wasn't too fond of Jennifer Hudson, but the last 2 weeks she's been quite good, and this week she even showed some self-control. Excellent to see John Stevens back on form as well. He could still outlast Diana and Jasmine if he keeps it up.
