After 20 years, shes off !! Not that I've watched the show in YEARS, but will be strange to think of the show without her...

Kate Ritchie has decided to quit her role in Home & Away after 20 years playing character Sally Fletcher.

The actress began working for the soap when she was eight years old and has gone on to hold the record for the longest continuous role in an Australian drama series.

When it first started she seemed younger, and then they did the accelerated ageing that seems to happen in soaps.

OH MY.

I'd heard she was planning on leaving for the last 2 or 3 years... maybe she wanted to reach the 20th year.

Alf and Sally started the same day i.e. the first episode... I have a feeling Alf had about 6 months off at one point though, so maybe Sally is classed as having stayed without a break, whereas he had a break. ('continuous')
