Nokia taunts Apple lockware phone with posters for "open" N-series
http://craphound.com/images/opennseriesplaster.jpg
Nokia is plastering NYC (and elsewhere?) with cheeky ads taking aim at Apple's locked iPhones. Not only does Apple prohibit installing third-party apps on the iPhone, but some users who modded their phones discovered that Apple's latest "update" actually bricked their phones, rendering them useless (and Apple says that modding your phone voids your warranty).
Nokia's N-series phones are designed to run third-party code, and Nokia encourages users to mod their phones (though, of course, Nokia's phones all come with a software switch that allows mobile companies to lock them to a single carrier).

I hope the iPhone falls on it's arse. I really do.

But because its Apple and it has a touch screen its the shit.
The thing I hate is Apple go around marketing things like they are the first person to EVER do it.

Then maybe some other companies should get a better marketing department.

I have the N95 and it's good. I've had it a week and still not really got the full hang of it. I can customise radio, take 5mgp pictures and dvd video, use gps er er er internet, email, sync, erm.. oh yes and it's a phone too.

I'm going to get an N95 soon. I hear the battery life can suck. Does it?

Quite. Still, the whole having different carriers for France, Germany, the UK etc. just smacks of greed. When Steve Jobs was asked in the UK iPhone press conference about it he didn't even have an answer, just "we're here to talk about the UK LAUNCH :Oi:"

The N80 is utterly RUBBISH. For the first time ever since 2000 I am definitely not going to get a Nokia phone when I renew my contract, that's how bad it is.
I believe that the N95 is the upgrade?

looks pretty though
and does GPS and stuff
The black N95 8GB (with double the RAM and a bigger screen than the normal N95) should be out by the end of October. I'm definately picking one up.

I need a new Nokia come Christmas. Biggest mistake I ever made was getting the 6280 - it's utter rubbish. Continuous software faults, poor signal, rubbish battery life. But I like the way the interface and it's familiar - I've tried Motorola and Samsung and I just don't like them in comparison.
