View Full Version : Friday Night Lights
Has anyone seen this? I think it was shown on BBC Two at one point...
Anyway I've just started watching Season One, and it's bloody fantastic.
Plus this guy is in it :horny:

He looks like Shane from Westlife's fatter older brother

Did anyone else EVER watch this? I think it's recently been picked up and shown from the start on Sky Atlantic. Anyway I found the first season boxset during my move and decided to watch the first episode tonight. I quite enjoyed it but not really sure if it's worth sticking with - this seems like the kind of thing that funky would have watched?

it's one of those shows that critics can't seem to shut up about, personally i hear football and i run the other way.

I was thinking that the fact that I know nothing about American football would be a bit of a turn-off, but needing to know anything about the sport didn't really figure into the first episode at all.

oh everyone in our American office CREAMS over this. I am being FORCED to give it a try. So I will. I've saved a couple of eps off Sky, not started it yet...

The direction of the pilot is quite unusual, not really what I'd expected. I'll reserve full judgement until I see what's ironed out in the second episode

I watched the first episode when it started on Sky Atlantic, and the direction was very gritty and guerilla style, and it seemed to focus on the small town decay and the obsession of football as a religion more than the game itself.
But it did feel very style over substance, the characters felt flat and there was nothing particularly gripping that made me want to keep on watching.

I watched a few episodes when it was first on and thought that it was decent but not really more than that.
