View Full Version : Is anyone on T Mobile ?

I'm beginning to lose patience. I've just changed providers (about a month ago) and did all the usual checking into coverage ("excellent" apparently) and sounded out some local friends and looked online and didn't see TOO many issues, other than the ones you're BOUND to get with ANY provider.
But it's ridiculous. I keep getting "missed calls" when my phone is sat next to me and it doesn't even RING. Yesterday I had an answerphone message turn up an HOUR after it was left. It takes me 4-5 attempts to send every text. Tonight 2 texts have taken an hour and a half to come through (and one with a quite serious question in it which left the other person HANGING) and I haven't been able to connect to my voicemail for 2 hours so I have a message there (from one of the above styled "missed calls") which I don't know who or what it is.
All the while I have a perfect "reception" bar according to the phone so I have no idea what's going on.
Now I presume this absolutely couldn't be my phone and is just the shit network ? What can I do ? I can't be stuck into an 18 month contract with this fucking service...

It could be a phone settings issue. A friend of mine was having a similar problem (I'm not sure if he was on T-Mobile though) and when he rang customer services, they got him to change a few settings on the phone and it did the trick.

I am. No complaints, really, so far. Texts are nearly always in real time practically.

It just doesnt sound like a phone problem, but a network one...
But Id LOVE IT if that was the case...

Well his phone was fine for months and it developed a program. Turns out the default settings were not compatible with adjustments made in the network.

Well ive also had a couple of DODGY texts come through...
For example- a msg saying "Attempt to download "Cheapbeer.gif" ?"
I WAS in the pub at the time amusingly but I REJECTED it... :D
Thing is, these problems have really been there since day one...just they've gotten worse this past week

I've got the w880i on T-Mobile and a few people have said they've sent me texts and I've never got them. The phone always shows a full bar but it's obviously dropping out of service without showing it. Which I've only realised because when I try to connect to the internet it says it's unavailable. If I knock the phone off and back on again I can connect to the internet fine and I get texts through that were sent two hours earlier.
I don't think it's the network. It's like the phone is dropping the signal but not showing it.

Any remedy to that ?
And "picked up my bluetooth" ? How TERRIBLE they should be able to do that...Im DISGUSTED

I don't know any remedy apart from knocking the phone on and off at regular intervals, which is of course annoying. They should replace your phone easily. I managed to get a completely awful Nokia replaced on the basis that the phone crashed once when I opened the camera. See how it goes from there with a new phone. Probably best to start logging any complaints about service issues now and every time because their contract is pretty bullet proof on that front. One of the clauses is that T-mobile may not always be able to provide the service you expect, but obviously there must be an unacceptable level. It just doesn't detail it in the contract.

I dont have any problems with T Mobile, only when I'm at my parents house, and I lose GPRS, and only ave the GSM network to send things over, which on my blackberry is virtually fucking useless.
I would give them a call. If the coverage says excellent, it sure sounds like a phone problem rather than your network.

Apparently it happens when youre on a 3G network and the signal isnt strong enough, switching your phone back to a 2.5G network works...

YEP. Thats what happens to me when I go to my folks. Its annoying. If its happening to you all the time, thats not good. I can live with it for the 3 days I spend at my folks every 3 months or so !

Is anyone having really bad problems?
It takes me about five attempts to send a text message, I get messages three hours later. It doesn't always flag up my voicemails if my phone is off. And incoming calls just get cut off before I even get a chance to answer.
How was your remedy Sheena?

Basically, its something to do with the network- its putting you on a GPRS or osmething when it should be on a different one...
Some areas have shit reception on such networks
Sorry, Im not very technical, but I phoned up their helpline, he told me how to change the setting, I did it and I've not had a problem since...
