Do I see right? She is to be in some soap called Ocean Drive or some guff?
But to run alongside the soap, there is a DRAMA which is about the making of the soap???
It sounds like a HORRIFIC concept.

I think that if its done well it COULD be brilliant, but I'll reserve judgement :)

Thats the title!
Its just that both pieces of TV have to be really on the ball to succeed. It could fail because the drama part of the relationship could cause the soap to become weak etc.
Plus trying to introduce new soaps... we all know what happens to them.
This could be a real Eldorado in my mind!

its not so much a soap as a series...

Isn't Michelle "I hate the gays" Heaton on TV as well? Some Binge Drinking programme or something.

*wonders if they will use Martha and the muffins song as theme tune*

She's one of the judges on our version of Pop Idol/X Factor aswell. :bad:

They're using it in the advert. I love that song but it gets stuck going round in my head every time I hear it.

I might give it a go. Only because I have nothing better to do tonight though
How heavily has this been promoted? It's been everywhere!

I know... I really am hopeful of it...
For ITV it's a really brave concept.
Plus it has Jason Donovan in :D

I rather guiltily enjoyed this - though I think the crossover thing is really the most enjoyable aspect (something that was lost on my Mum as she sat typing through the first 45 minutes and thus didn't quite grasp...well, anything at ALL).
Echo Beach is as generic as they come, like really AWFUL, and Martine McCutcheon in particular looked like she was deliberately acting up to being in a parody of a soap.
Nevertheless, as ITV goes, it was something a bit different, and I probably will watch it tomorrow.

I recorded it. How often is it on then? I assumed it was weekly.

Thursday and Friday; sounds wise, I don't think 12 actual weeks would hold my attention, but six weeks of 2/4 episodes could do.
Next one is tomorrow which seems daft, a lot of the audience I doubt will be in then
I missed Moving Wallpaper and only caught a bit of Echo Beach. The dubbing on the beach scenes was really jarring but then I thought maybe they were parodying shit dubbing in which case it's clever. But I don't think they were.

Apparently (according to my Boss), its very amusing when you hear about the stuff in the comedy, and then see it reflected in the soap.

How did this do in the ratings?

I think the first episode did reasonably okay, can't remember the exact figure, but apparently it lost 3m viewers last night.

it got 5 million on Thursday
ITV1's much-trumpeted sister shows Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach came up trumps last night, Thursday January 10, both winning their slots with 5 million viewers apiece.
The behind-the-scenes comedy Moving Wallpaper, which followed the fictional production team preparing to launch Echo Beach, kicked off at 9pm with an average 21% share, according to unofficial overnights.
Moving Wallpaper was followed at 9.30pm by the soap Echo Beach, starring Martine McCutcheon and Jason Donovan, which also won a 21% share of the audience.

I cannot believe this is put on PRIME TIME ITV. I assumed it was something shunted to ITV2. They've hit a new low.

What's going on? 2 more dated soaps in prime time in addition to the 60 hours a week they already have. Dire

UK prime time TV is a fucking joke. Compared to the US there really is no contest, at least they relegate their soaps to daytime.
