A few points of interest to me:
Poor Coronation Street! Although Eastenders has really got its game on in the past year and totally deserves its nomination after the wilderness years, Emmerdale is a far less good Corrie and I'm sure that The Bill is still shit. Hopefully this will stop the producers taking it further off the boil, because none of the big storylines this year have been ALL THAT.
Any one of those Entertainment performance nominees could win and I'd be well happy.
By a long, long way, James Corden is the weakest person in Gavin & Stacey. It's ridiculous that he's been nominated over the likes of Ruth Jones, Rob Brydon and Alison Steadman.

You've seen all most of those shows then? Or by 'shower of shit', do you just mean shows that you don't really like the look of yourself? I think it's quite a strong line up. Although it's not all tv that I would choose to watch, it is tv that has been done quite well.
I have only just noticed Ricky Gervais being sensationally SNUBBED in favour of Stephen Merchant. Obviously Merchant doesn't deserve to win, but it's a nice two fingers to Ricky from the Bafta folk.

The fact that SHOW OF THE YEAR has got three reality shows, including the utter RUBBISH of "Britain's Got Talent" and "Strictly Come Dancing" says it ALL

OR the shower of shit most people don't watch and go for the better American shows instead.

TRUE, although I suppose as that's the audience award voted for by the people thick enough to pick up the phone and vote in these things, they had to go for some of the lowest common denominator. At least those are the better Reality Shows, although the lack of Any Dream Will Do irks me. I'm just glad Ant n Dec aren't nominated for takeaway. It's odd that Doctor Who hasn't been nominated in this category, but it'd probably walk it most years (and it did win big in the first year) so I guess they just wanted to give the other shows a chance.

Really pleased to see Andrew Garfield nominated for Best Actor. His performance and Boy A itself was one of the best things on TV last year.
Skins being nominated is a bit of a joke, as is Corrie being overlooked in favour of Eastenders. I'd say even Hollyoaks is more deserving of a place than any of the Best Continuing Drama nominees.
I've not seen a SINGLE one of the dramas for Actor & Actress nominations.
I don't blame you. Aren't UK TV dramas the least appealing things EVER.

Indeed. We haven't really got anything good or consistent that's not a comedy other than Doctor Who. Compare that to the massive choice for decent US programming.

Its so saddening that Doctor Who etc are our major exports for the US. They look so AMATEUR compared to what we get.
It oozes as much class as Eastenders with CGI.
I've not seen a SINGLE one of the dramas for Actor & Actress nominations.
I've never heard of most of them, never mind seen any of them. The amount of British TV that I actually watch is diminishing year by year and the dramas that do sound promising end up being dreadful. Reality shows aside (X Factor, Dancing on Ice, Strictly...), the only British show that I watch these days is 'Hollyoaks'.
I can’t believe that they have overlooked the likes of 'The Riches', 'Brothers and Sisters', 'Desperate Housewives', and 'Dirt' for 'My Name Is Earl' and 'Californication'.

Rubbish. Who is much better than most of the crap sent to us from the US

The 'Comedy Programme' category depresses me more. And why is Harry Hill classed as an 'Entertainment Programme' rather than a comedy one? Maybe I'm alone in finding it really fucking funny.

Andrew Garfield is absolutely SUPERB. I caught the first part of Boy A, but had to tape the the rest and my DVD of it was blank, I pressed the wrong channel or whatever. :grr: I REALLY need to see this. It better come out on DVD, I know More 4 repeated it once, which I naturally missed.

Gina McKee is fabulous as well. I wish Maxine Peake would win or be nominated for something.

According to IMDB, it's being released as a film in America first, and then it'll be released on DVD later this year.

He was also the virginal awkward Tom in Sugar Rush. I couldn't believe it was him in Lions For Lambs (the only interesting character, Streep was fine of course, but on autopilot) with an American accent. He's gonna go on to big things.
