I want a GIANT HD TV more than almost anything. I already have LCD, but fuck it! Not good enough. But I'm not really convinced about the bluray.. are the players backwards compatible?
I loved Widge's explanation about the quality - http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=1601540
But I still need more convincing. Too fucking expensive. Fuck them trying to make more money with new formats. Poor suckers who bought that betamax version HD-discs or whatever it was. Jesus, they never learn.

Most of the bluray players will also play your DVDs and some of them do something called upscaling which I assume means they make your dvd picture better. My bluray is on the PS3 and I must admit that I didn't think there'd be that much difference between the bluray and the dvd. The picture quality of bluray on a HDTV though is nothing short of phenomenal. Unlike Widge I'm not a technophile - more of a technophobe. Comet seem to be doing a few bluray/DVD players for around £300 but I'm sure you can get them cheaper. Also I expect that the price will start dropping soon. We have a few films on both DVD and bluray and there is a marked difference in the quality between the two. Maybe not the (technical) answers you wanted loomer but bluray is brilliant.

Better picture, better sound... you assume there is no difference until you go back to bollocks SD. I get BRs from Lovefilm, Enchanted was :disco:.
Also newer ones hook up to the net and do picture in picture features for those who care.
Get a PS3 and game with me!

It took me at least 5 seconds to try and work out why you were pronouncing blurry as if you were Jentina.
