11 C. J. Cregg - Press Secretary (Seasons 1–6) - greatest female character in TV history.
06 Sam Seaborn - Deputy Communications Director (Seasons 1–4) - Rob Lowe ain't that great an actor. Got the comedy moments spot on a lot of the time but he really became quite irrelevant very quickly and the ratings definitely should not have left with him
10 Donna Moss - Senior Assistant to Josh Lyman (Seasons 1–6) - perfect as Josh's foil
10 Abigail Bartlet - First Lady - formidable and emotional, an amazingly authentic on-screen couple for such a hard-to-believe relationship
06 Charlie Young - Personal Aide to the President (Seasons 1–6) - ruins quite a few good lines, not a bad actor but his style sticks out like a sore thumb. Great character though.
02 Will Bailey - Deputy Communications Director (Seasons 4–5) - I AM A ROBOT. Why does Sorkin keep giving him job after job?
10 Annabeth Schott - Deputy Press Secretary (Season 6) - Kristin Chenoweth is comedy AND drama goldust.
08 Matt Santos - Congressman from Texas (Season 6) - A little TOO perfect a running mate, but it's also quite scary how prophetic he is of Obama
09 Arnold Vinick - Senator from California (Season 6) - amazing actor, very interesting character
08 Kate Harper - Deputy National Security Advisor (Seasons 5–7) - wooden at times, but great role with great storylines.
00 Mandy Hampton - White House Media Consultant (Season 1) - seems everyone was glad to see the back of her... does anyone know why she went? It was never really explained and I can only assume fan feedback caused her to get the boot. She was AWFUL
09 Mrs. Landingham - Executive Secretary to the President (Seasons 1-2) - her relationship with the Pres was gold
08 Deborah Fiderer - Executive Secretary to the President (Seasons 4-7) - a worthy replacement for Delores for sure
10 Amy Gardner - Woman who nags and sleeps with Josh - I love absolutely anything this woman does. Even though she was a highly irritating character she did it SO well
09 Oliver Babbish - White House Counsel - brilliant. Was part of the show's two biggest and best storylines, which helps.
08 John Hoynes - Vice President (Seasons 1-4) - brought a good measure of inward smarm and outward sophistication really well
08 Bob Russell - Vice President (Seasons 5-7) - as above, played the role brilliantly
10 Margaret Hooper - Assistant to the Chief of Staff (Seasons 1-7) - the only problem with Margaret is that her role wasn't big ENOUGH
07 Carol Fitzpatrick - Assistant ot the Press Secretary - nice enough but you didn't really notice when she wasn't there
08 Zoey Bartlet - Useless waste of space - sorry I like Zoey! Yes she was a little too cutesy but she got some great lines that were usually delivered quite well. But after a while it did get a little, "can she really act or is she just good at playing herself, a dopey young girl"...

The character left the show without plot explanation after the first season. Show creator Aaron Sorkin mentioned in an official The West Wing book that her character "wasn't working" and that her departure, which was decided on well before Season 1 finished up production, was amicable.[citation needed] Sorkin originally said that Mandy's whereabouts would be revealed in Season 2 but this never came about.
