This is going to be a DISCO DISASTER :D

Former child star Lauren Harries is to appear in a brand new reality series to be shown later in the year.

Lauren Harries: Working 9-5 will see the 30-year-old challenged to do five mystery jobs in 40 hours. Her roles include being a gym instructor, musical theatre actor and radio presenter.

Running for six weeks, the series starts on Monday, March 1 at 9pm on Showcase TV (Sky channel 216).

Harries, who had a sex change in 2001, was banned from This Morning last year following a controversial stance on transgender issues.

I have dreamed of this for so long.

Quite how, with all the hours that tv networks have to fill, nobody's actually given Lauren her own show before now is quite ridiculous really. Especially after that Keith Allen triumph. But it's oh so better late than never.

Tis a pity that she won't be able to go on This Morning to publicise it, but a Loose Women appearance would be golden.

In sadder news Moopy has really slipped in the google rankings for "Lauren Harries".

From page one to page 3 :(

"LAUREN HARRIES WORKING, WORKING NINE TO FIVE!"

What a jingle.

Oh my god! The guy she is in the Heat Radio studio with is a guy I know called Phil! I'm going to ask him all about the dream day he spent working with DAME LAUREN. I'm sure it was a career highlight for him.

It must have been filmed quite a while ago, he's been back at Radio 2 for about 9 months now.

Am i not the only person to forget about this then? :(

Well PANIC NOT because it's repeated tonight at 9.

It would help if it wasn't shown on the equivalent of a LOCAL COMMUNITY CABLE CHANNEL. Try to google Showcase TV and you eventually get the shoddiest website ever, possibly designed by Lauren's brother.

Following her on Twitter is WHERE IT'S AT. Every day seems to revolve around watching Deal Or No Deal. Her spelling is atrocious. So much for being a child prodigy.

Can/does she still value antiques? They should let her join the Antiques Roadshow or Dickinson's Real Deal.

:D

She's in that difficult position that many women face. Do they persue their childhood interests, which may be viewed by an ignorant world as 'geeky' or 'not cool', or do they focus on their looks so they can snag a boyfriend.

At this time in her life, it's all image based with Lauren. I hope one day we get to see her fingering a Clarice Cliff and fulfilling her potential.

If the opening credits are a hint of what's to come, I'm sure the episode where Lauren milks a cow will be eagerly awaited as a televisual must.

did anybody watch this in the end? We saw the first one last week, and it was quite good but not the ten car pile up we might have hoped for. She came across as rather sweet i thought, in fact she made me feel quite sorry for her. There's not a lot she could do and she seemed to flounder in quite a lot of social situations.

It's still worth a watch though. I know they were limited in their options and could hardly have her as an AIRLINE PILOT or CROWN COURT JUDGE, but there are surely hundreds of other jobs which are more interesting than being an Estate Agent, and it seemed odd to choose it as the opening job. Having her as a fish monger in the next episode is already infinitely more exciting, though i'd rather she was going to be a nun, air hostess or primary school teacher for the day. It's a shame this hasn't been a big hit on a big channel really, i'd have liked a tie in range of Lauren Harries action figures that come with the clothes and accessories for all the different jobs.

The highlight of episode 1 was when her mum was on speakerphone trying to make Lauren bitch about the make-up lady, when the make-up lady was sat right next to her in the car. I also like her offending the lady she showed round a flat by calling her old, and saying in one room "now i like this mirror because it makes you look good, which is unusual for a woman".

Oh and the theme tune is done by the Unconventionals :zombie:

The whole show was rather shoddily put together really. Some parts of it seem to have been filmed on a cameraphone.

I didn't see any episodes due to Showcase tv being the most obscure channel ever.

I'm hoping for a DELUXE DVD BOXSET with commentary from DAME LAUREN and little extras like her fashion tips and the items most commonly found in her fridge :disco:
