Because we haven't decided what to do with personal titles yet.
I should imagine that people who have contributed financially to the site will be able to have avatars and titles, but others will have to reach certain post totals.
However, avatars and title requests will probably have to be sent to the admin to do.

There does need to be something SPESHUL for contributors and major posters et AL mind...

Maybe if you kept the dot rule of 5000 posts for an avatar and 10000 for a title (apart from mods and contributers) and for other members there could be set avatars - like comical figures of worship: Rustie, Agnetha etc. etc. Just a thought.

I can only see a way to allow people to have avatars once they reach a certain post limit. I've looked through the manual and can't find a way to give some people avatars straight off, while others have to reach a certain post limit.
It might be possible, but I haven't found a way yet.

Not really. It's just frustrating me, that's all as I'm sure there must be a way.

How about a time limit rather than a post limit for avatars/titles. This will prevent any mass trashing.

if you go to the users bit, and find a user... you can specially assign them a custom title and avatar...
but it is something an admin will have to do

Exactly - I've seen it done on another vbulletin board I go to, so I can't see any reason why we can't have it here... It doesn't have to be a long time even...

But I have an avatar uploaded to my username and enabled it, but it doesn't show.

well we need to provide some incentive for people who do contribute... and avatars seem to be the best thing! ... otherwise you have to wait 60 days... I think its only fair enough to those who have donated! we can't make exceptions...

Give EVERYONE an avatar. Make the financial contributions let you have a "vote" or something when we have important decisions to make...
