There were loads of CDs that I wanted to buy.

I was very tempted by Six - Mansun, but it wasn't part of Virgin's 3 for £20 offer, even though it was £9.99. I tried to get the sales assistant to let me have it as part of the offer, but she wouldn't.

Searched for ages for albums by The*Ataris, but couldn't find any :moopy:

well, i found The*Ataris in Virgin in london... they're in the metal section under A.

You SHOULD have bought Six and a NIN album.

I'm sure I looked there ..... perhaps I missed them or they'd all been sold.

The CDs that I got were part of the 3 for £20 offer. Albums by Mansun and NIN weren't.

I will get albums by them soon though, as they are high on my list of 'wants'.

hooray for Joey's purchases!

and there's nothing "Special" about the YYY album.. there's no other edition of the album released in this country.

Oh ok, I didn't know that :p It said 'Special Edition' on the front and has a bonus track along with a video of Date With The Night, so I just assumed there had been an earlier version.

You need Six and you need it now.

As for the Meh Meh Mehs... Well... Meh.

Joey

Six will be my next purchase. And if people think that £9.99 is a good price for it, then perhaps I should snap it up.

I was tempted by albums by Hole, NIN and Ooberman today as well.

I am very happy with today's Idlewild purchases, but will branch out to other bands and artists before buying more Idlewild.

Variety is the spice of life :D

Hmmm... Hole is a curious case, really. I believe their 'definitive' work remains Live Through This, but there's the popular critic belief that Pretty on the Inside was their best as it was a seminal debut and all that, etc. I prefer Live Through This.

Celebrity Skin was their more "commercial" album, and I think you'd like it, Joey. Try downloading "Malibu", "Hit so Hard" and the title-track and you'll get an idea of what the album sounds like in general. It's not that bad.

Courtney's got a solo album on the way - America's Sweetheart, and the first single "Mono" is available on her website. It's alright.

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
lostprophets - Start Somethin'
Snow Patrol - Final Straw

Six would sound great on drugs. Not that I do drugs anyway.

It's just a great album full stop. Loud or on headphones or even somewhere in the background. It's one of those albums if ya know what I mean.

Hmmm.... I believe "live through this" is the work considered best by most critics. It finishes #5 for 1994 at acclaimedmusic.net, while "pretty..." is #47 for 1991. A result I agree with.

Anyway, I finally bought "celebrity skin" last week and I think it's good. Apart from the two cracking singles, there's "northern star" and "reason to be beautiful". Some subpar fillers though

"mono" is shit, sorry

Well allow me the opportunity to clear up the confusion. "Pretty.." is unlistenable, "LTT" is dated but has maybe 3 songs still worth listening to and "CS" is utter dreck for which Courtney should have been humanely destroyed.

There y'are.:smoke:

Yeah, one of those albums you hear something more each time you listen, and even more when stoned (plus it goes on even longer then! The title track is about 30 minutes long ;))

I agree... "live through this" IS the best album. I'm not too fond of "Pretty On the Inside"... and i do think "celebrity skin" is second.

I gave Joey the song "Reasons to be beautiful" on his Cd... as it's my joint favourite on that album, along with "Northern Star"

and YES, i like "Slanted and Enchanted" but it's not the great work some of you make it out to be....
