Who is La Toya Jackson? People know her face and her famous name but no one knows the person behind the persona. Now VH1 will take viewers inside the unique life of La Toya as she sits down and answers the tough questions on everything from the charges against Michael to her own plastic surgery to her journey into darkness and despair.

VH1 gets exclusive behind-the-scenes access to La Toya Jackson. Our cameras will capture all the excitement and adrenaline of her life as she prepares for the release of her new album. This unfiltered access will allow viewers to get to know the real La Toya in a fun and spontaneous way.


LA TOYA ON MICHAEL
La Toya went from claiming her brother Michael as her best friend while growing up, to publicly supporting the allegations of sexual molestation made against him, to a recent reconciliation. During her 20's, La Toya made guest appearances in Michael's videos and projects such as "Say, Say, Say" and "We Are The World." Michael produced a couple of her albums, but the relationship went sour during La Toya's 10 year marriage to Jack Gordon. La Toya openly discusses how she's helping him cope with the latest controversies swirling around him and defending her brother's innocence.

ON HER OWN
Jack Gordon was her manger and later became her husband. She claims that her marriage was controlling and she will speak from the heart about her painful past and how she found the strength to escape the downward spiral and truly become her own woman.

THE NEW CD
La Toya poured her new found freedom and energy int1o music. The result: her new album "Starting Over." The CD is a very personal and very funky release that marks her return to music in a big big way. Though this is her latest musical effort, La Toya's been singing for decades. She made her debut as a background vocalist in 1971. She's recorded ten albums including a country effort she produced in Nashville. Undaunted by the comparisons to her famous siblings, La Toya signed a new record deal in 2000 with JaTail Records and began work on "Starting Over."

SHOPPING
Believe it or not, but La Toya has never visited a mall to go shopping. Follow VH1 on a wild ride to the mall where she gets down to business, trying on the latest shades and make-up, but only after she gets stopped by the police on her way there.

PIERCING
At the age of 48, La Toya is in charge and finally feels secure and free to do what she wants, and that includes getting her belly button pierced. VH1 is right there as she gets intimate with the needle! :D :D :D

THE NEW LOOK
La Toya Jackson seems to get hotter every year. Her body is smokin' and her fashion sense is totally cutting edge. VH1 will reveal the secrets of La Toya's amazing new look. She will dish her tips and secrets on fashion, diet and exercise. You won't believe how she stays so energetic and youthful! She even opens up about her plastic surgery.

THE KENTUCKY DERBY
La Toya is on her own lucky streak when it comes to betting on the horses at the Kentucky Derby, only with VH1 will she share her system guaranteed to pay off.

THE CD LAUNCH
VH1 traveled to Hawaii to follow La Toya on her promotional tour of the islands as she meets and greets her fans and we follow her as she goes to clubs to play the new CD.

The part about the fans looking into the camera was a FUCK awful ending. Usually VH1 made movies aren't that bad...(heck not even that Vanessa Williams Christmas Movie "A Diva's Christmas Carol" back in 2000, that I secretly enjoyed :shy: ).

La Toya Jackson Opts for Name Change

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Twenty-four years after La Toya Jackson cracked the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, she's back -- albeit with a slight name change.

"If You Feel the Funk," culled from the singer's self-titled debut, peaked at No. 17 in 1980. This week, the buoyant "Just Wanna Dance" (JaTail Records) by Toy climbs two notches on the chart to No. 14.

"It feels good to be back," "Toy" Jackson told Billboard. "With this single, I wanted people to judge the song on its own merit."

Jackson fully understands that her name comes with much baggage, good and bad. "People weren't giving me the chance to do my thing, which is to sing," she said. "So, I altered my name for this single to see what would happen."

Jackson, the fifth of nine children, says she has slowly but surely been making DJs aware of the fact that she is indeed Toy.

"I've called many of the Billboard DJs to let them know about Toy's background," she said with a giggle. "One phone call at a time, I am letting them know all about Toy. While some of them knew that Toy was me, others were surprised. The overall response has been rewarding and encouraging."

"Just Wanna Dance" is one of 17 tracks on "Startin' Over," the new album by Jackson. Scheduled to arrive in the fall, the set is a mix of dance, pop and R&B/hip-hop.

"This album reflects where I've been and where I'm at," she said. "It's also the beginning of a new chapter in my life. I couldn't have called it anything else."
