How come her album is up to #18, 3 weeks after her single BOMBED? Good for her & all, but inexplicable, really....

Is she still BLIND in that one eye?

I like most of her singles..but I still don't know what the hell she's singing in 'Dreams'

I was thinking this the other day...She's still selling album despite the flop of the single...She should record a few new songs & reissue the album late Jan...with some promotion, has she appeared on CD:UK once with a single from current album??

To be fair, Ten Years Time IS far better than Stay The Same.

Even though there were loads of rumors Latchkey Kid would be the second single.

How much has it sold to date?

She was on that Saturday night sports/gameshow thing last week, amongst other TV appearances, which always do well for the MORs...

There are some good songs on it, actually, particularly Ten Years Time and the FABULOUS Fallen Angel

But it does get a bit samey

It's an OK album. For about 6 tracks I thought "This is really rather good actually". Then I got bored.....

Oh I didn't know she had done any TV offlate...probably that's the reason for the albums climb

Almost as shocking as Kristian Leontiou's album surfacing to the top 20.

Well, not really, just him and Gabrielle making surprise entries. I can't decide whether this is actually a surprise or just a result of not getting the detailed midweeks.

I am not surprised one bit - this is all purely down to TV adverts on during primetime. I've lost count of the amount of times the ad for her album (which has a lengthy play of "Ten Years Time" on it) has come on during soaps, when 7-12 million people are watching.

EVERY time it happens (especially that much), an album always climbs or remains stable if it's already high up, it really is by far the best form of promotion these days and guaranteed to shift copies...I'm just surprised more people don't try it...

Yes, I've seen LOADS of TV ads, starting the week the single was released. In fact, I didn't even know the single was released until I read it here.

I know Cwej won't like it from the point of view of buggering up her singles run, but with her album doing well again, it doesn't really matter.

Eh? Do you mean the standard offer where ALL chart CDs are BOGOHP, so the secoond one is ALWAYS half price?

Erm. Yeah

This one had ALOT of promotion though...

Well in my Woolies at least, every album gets heavily promoted when it's in one of their offers. It's not like she's had an unfair advantage.

I've never noticed these adverts but I think the last thing...I haven't really watched TV that much last week the last thiing I think I watched in full was Bad Girls, last Monday...so that's probably the reason for missing it

I remember earlier this year that Sarah McLachlan album was nearly on every break & it never went past 33...I was beginning to think they were wasting their money... advertising on TV, is very costly & some weeks it was in it's 50's despite all the advertising

Well, with NO hit single or promotion by the lady, or previous form in the UK, the Sarah McLachlan album went Gold. Pretty worth it i'd say. They just need to release 'Stupid' now, and have her PROMOTE!

Well actually she did perform on Parkinson and Fallen was pretty huge on Radio 2 and Magic.

And you can never underestimate the Power of Parky.

And you can never underestimate the Power of Parky.Oh my...Parky usually takes albums...way up the charts...all that advertising...all the praise she got didn't really translate into sales...I remember reading a review that said she could probably capitalise on the success of Dido, didn't really happen

Not many people know who the fuck she is though...Gabrielle's sold tons of albums before and there are quite obviously loads of people who like her, it's just loads of them didn't know she had a new one out...then the adverts come on and it's like, "ooh I like her, I'll buy that" etc..

I can't say I saw much Sarah promotion...the advert wasn't on much during soaps and stuff, was it? That's where the big sales come from..

PGCMc
23-08-2004, 08:17 PM
I saw it quite a bit...I'd personally never seen an album having so much advertisements...they were on around the release of the album...it did take the album to #33 but still with Parkinson etc...sales should've been much better

Down to #43 this week.

Not that sure if she's saved from the dumper then.

I mean, look at all the press coverage Madonna's got in the last week or so and Gabs album is higher. Although Madge's album IS almost 14 years old!
