Isn't it quite easy to explain to a child that swearing isn't big or clever, but explain how people get rather passionate about an issue that affects the lives of hundreds of millions of people purely because we are too lazy and apathetic to do anything about it?
Isn't it better to have children grow up muttering the odd swear word but having a greater understanding of bigger issues than being perfectly behaved, mollycoddled and ignorant.

I think I mentioned it yesterday when you said you'd been listening to your brother shagging over the weekend.Originally Posted by Rachey

But seriously... Do you like living at home? Fair cop if you DO, but I have to say, since I moved out I've NEVER looked back. The longest I've been back is 2 nights over Christmas. It really does CHANGE you in a good way.

Christian it doesnt bother me really, i cant afford to move out so i have no choice. I have TOTAL freedom and a lovely room so its not a huge problem. I lived in Australia for 5 months alone and loved it, but until i can afford a decent place i cant even think about moving out. I couldnt handle living in a bedsit with flies and rats!
We have a huge house, and only 3 people in it, so i have loads of space and stuff.
Fatherandy needs JO FROST SUPERNANNY round there!

I think the problem lies with Mel's sharp intake of breath at the Fuck. She obviously has a problem controlling her point of orgasms. She's ever so sensitive you know.
My children are 5 and 3, I'd prefer them not to utter the occasional fuck or cunt at the moment, call me a bad parent if you likeOriginally Posted by lolly

I thought I already said that we were sat on the sofa telling my son about what live8 was all about, and why people were there, so I dont quite get why you would think my kids are mollycoddled or ignorant. One is 3 though, so if you'd like to explain what live8 is about to her, feel free, she'll only be interested though if it involves pink or dora the explorer.![]()
And Rachey, when have I ever said I hated anyone here, let alone all of you![]()

It just irks me greatly that people are reacting like swearing is the worst thing ever. Half these people would probably quite happily watch (and let their children) watch EastEnders or plenty of other programmes on pre-watershed that contain content that I would personally feel is more harmful to children than being exposed to a word that people take exception to.
And to deal with the issue of Madonna/whoever swearing in any case, what did people expect? Did they REALLY think that Madonna, with her history of language, let alone ANY other artist, would not swear? I think people should accept some responsibility for letting their children watch it in the first place, rather than running straight to the BBC to complain.
"fuck" is just normal speak for me.. I use it quite a bit without even thinking about it

I can write a letter of complaint to the bbc, but there's a watchdog isn't there? ITC? If they the news isn't good just don't show it!
I'm deciding between being Fucked of Fingerinhoe, or Paedopants of Peterborough! Seriously, it's not on, I know they don't give a flying fig, but that just sums them up, my son turned round and asked why all those people were lying dead with the skin ripped off their faces, shortly after Mel let off a huge FART

BBC blasted for Madonna's Live 8 profanity Tuesday February 21, 09:35 AM

LONDON (Reuters) - The BBC has been chastised by the media regulator for broadcasting profanity and offensive language from artists including Madonna, Green Day and Snoop Dogg during last summer's Live 8 concert.
Ofcom criticised the BBC's failure to use a standard delay to filter out offensive language during the event, which gathered more than a billion people in cities across the world to pressure rich nations to do more for the poor.
It said the broadcaster "should have anticipated an audience for this event which would include a significant number of children."
Madonna opened her performance with an expletive and a user of the BBC Web site later wrote in the Live 8 comments section: "I would have liked my 7-year-old to see a piece of history in the making, however I do not want her to think that swearing is the way to ending poverty."
The BBC told the regulator it regretted any offence caused to viewers, "particularly the stream of expletives and racist terms used by the act Snoop Dogg," one of the world's most famous rappers. The broadcaster noted that the event was billed as a live concert, and that any delay was forbidden under its contract with organisers.
