    Melodifestivalen 2006

Been searching a few sites and found this:

Who will participate in Melodifestivalen 2006?

Here are the latest news about Melodifestivalen 2006. Which artists will be seen in the contest next year, and who will decline?

The Wallstones did not reach the final with "Invisible people", but have started thinking about new entries. "We'll see if we send something for next year" they say in the diary on their website.

Carola Szücs, from Fame Factory, has written a song together with her boyfriend Johan Becker (The Wallstones) which they believe in very much. She has also recorded a song with a touch of The Corrs and Enya. Carola Szücs will probably send in more songs.

Jill Johnson, Sweden's country-queen, said after she hosted the final 2005 that she is positive to participate again after her victory in 1998 with "Kärleken är" and her 4th postition with the huge hit "Crazy in love".

Alcazar got the question "Will you participate again?" in a chat with Aftonbladet's readers, and Magnus wrote: "You'll never know, it's the same story every time: if it's the right song you never know the answer. Let's wait and see."

Jessica Andersson & Magnus Bäcklund from Fame have realized it will be difficult to win again as a group, so now they will try as solo artists. Jessica will send one or several entries.

Sandra Dahlberg tries again. Her new song was supposed to be released as a single, but instead sent to Melodifestivalen. Bert Karlsson, the manager of her record company, says it is one of the best songs for years in the contest.

Nanne Grönvall said in an interview in Aftonbladet that she got problems to stay away from the contest. Melodifestivalen is the best she knows. So, probably she will give it another try, but how to repeat a success like "Håll om mig"?

esc.info.se speculates in more interesting names:

Afro-dite took time out after the final in 2003. But recently they performed together again and thought it was great. Maybe they'll be back in 2006?

Kikki, Bettan & Lotta again? Kikki has had quite a long time out after her drinking problems. She and Bettan performed at the Pride festival in Stockholm and really enjoyed working together again. The three ladies might return!

Fredrik Kempe seems to like the contest. At least he will be one of the composers 2006.

LaGaylia Frazier was very close to the final in 2005. If there is a power ballad she is the best to do it.

Andrea Bonde from Fame Factory 2005. When she did not reach the final in the docusoap, Bert Karlsson promised her an entry in Melodifestivalen.

Arja Saijonmaa said directly after her fiasco this year, she wants to participate again.

Bodies without organs participated in 2005 in order to become more well-known in Sweden. Now they are, and a victory might be in sight when the viewers know who they are.

We will not see these in Melodifestivalen:

Shirley Clamp thinks three years in a row is enough. Maybe she returns in a few years.

Anne-Lie Rydé was disappointed when she missed the final again this year. She declared Melodifestivalen was a thing of the past.

Robyn, who composed "Du gör mig hel igen" performed by Cajsalisa Ejemyr in 1997, wrote in a chat with Aftonbladet's readers after the question "Will you compete in Melodifestivalen?": "I will never compete in Melodifestivalen!".

Agneta Sjödin is mostly known as a tv-host, but joined the Diggiloo tour this summer and made her big debut as a singer. The newspapers wrote Lasse Holm would try to get her into Melodifestivalen. "If it's the right song I'd gladly do it", she said. But now she has changed her mind.

Just like in Israel, I guess any artist that want ot maintain some sort of credibility wouldn't go near the Melodifestival.
there are things worse in life than never being someone's sweetie.

that's what I thought, but then Bodies Without Organs, Sanne Salomonsen and Jessica Folcker entered this year, much to my surprise! However, Jessica Folcker DID say she'd NEVER do it again because it's not her 'thing'. Perhaps a bit bitter maybe?

For Jessica it was mostly to launch her new Swedish album. It was (and still is) her first album in Swedish.

Same thing for Bodies Without Organs, they were quite new and unheard of outside of the gay community. I doubt they'd ever participate again.

It's very unlikely that Alcazar would participate next year. They just had a fairwell gig the other day and they even sold out all their outfits and are now all focusing on solo projects.

    New voting rules in 2006

Since 1999 the Swedish people have been able to televote in Melodifestivalen. But after the situation in 2005 when Martin Stenmarck won even if Nanne Grönvall got by far the most televotes, SVT has changed the rules. Before, the televotes were transformed into points and split on seven entries - 11p, 22p, 44p, 66p, 88p, 110p and 132p. In the final 2006 the points will be calculated as a percentage of the televotes.

    Some more names added:

Josefin Nilsson and Björn Kjellman recorded a song three days before deadline. In 1997 they had leading roles in the popular Swedish film "Adam & Eva". Josefin participated in Melodifestivalen 2005 and Björn has commentated the contest in both radio and tv, and hosted the celebration show "Melodifestivalen 40 years" in 1995.

Pernilla Wahlgren will now focus on pop music after several musicals. She has participated three times before; "Piccadilly Circus" (1985), "Tvillingsjäl" (1991, written by Lena Philipsson!) and "Let your spirit fly" (2003).

Anna Book sang "ABC" in 1986. She says: "Of course I want to win - 20 years after ABC".

Kikki Danielsson, Elisabeth Andreassen and Lotta Engberg are back. Not as a group, but as solo artists. Kikki: "It feels very exciting. If they pick my song it will be my 9th contest."

Mikael Rickfors is an old rocker, who has had some hits both solo and with the group Grymlings.

Tommy Nilsson represented Sweden in ESC 1989 with "En dag". Actually his biggest hit...

Group Lustans Lakejer, with singer Johan Kinde, was very big in the 80's.

Kayo won Melodifestivalen 2002 with Afro-dite's "Never let it go". In 2004 she was in the jury picking the competing entries.

Jan Johansen has been in the contest 4 times before. In 1995 he won with "Se på mig".

Sanna Nielsen makes her 4th attempt to win.

Anna ”Sahlene” Sahlin represented Estonia in 2002. One year later she took part in the Swedish selections but did not reach the final with "Unbreakable".

Ann Winsborn is actually more known in Poland than in Sweden. She has the same record company as Shirley Clamp, Jill Johnson and Nanne Grönvall, where also the successful composer Bobby Ljunggren works.

Emil Sigfridsson took part in 2004.

Niklas Andersson has done some musicals in London. He has participated two times before without success.

Rikard Wolff had his breakthrough as an actor in 1992 with the film "Änglagård" ("House of angels"). He has released some albums with both new material and French chansons.

I really wish Shirley would compete but a few years off might be the best for her. She has turned her attention to TV now anyway, and "Mina Minnen" flopping completely will be seen as a bit of a disaster. I did order the new single though with Robert Jelinek I just hope it doesn't flop. Still a bit pissed off "Arglia Bla" is the bside when it clearly is the best upbeat song on the album!

I think Shirley SHOULD take a break, I mean 3 years on the tror was a bit much as it was. She needs to go away so she can come back with a BANG and win the ruddy thing!

Aftonbladet says Jessica Folcker will sing this song.

They also write that Rednex is one of the wildcards.

I'm 90% sure Jessica Folcker won't sing that song, nor any song in fact. She said that she'd NEVER do it again
