    I have nothing against him - when he appears in good films, he's very good (LA Confidential for example, or that old movie where he played that gay guy whose father had a stroke), but those two are dreadful. 'A Beautiful mind' is just the usual Hollywood biography shit which we've seen oh so many times before and Gladiator is one of a very selected group of films which I couldn't bother to stay till the end and left about half way through.

    The only thing that separates it from Hallmark Channel biographies, in my opinion, is the "twist" with Ed Harris, but this was the "in" thing in Hollywood in those days and I don't think was essential to the story.

    I didn't find it boring at all but I did find it a little MAWKISH where it didn't need to be (the ending, girl in the red dress, etc. etc.).

    Lord of the rings : The Return of the king 8/10 Good film but for fans
    Chicago 5/10 Shouldn't have won
    A Beautiful mind 2/10 Appalling sentimental nonsense
    Gladiator 7/10 HeMan movie - quite good though
    American Beauty 9/10 Excellent
    Shakespeare in love 6/10 Gwyneth Paltrow. Hence the low mark
    Titanic 8/10 People are embarrassed to admit but this isn't at all bad
    The English Patient 3/10 Dull anf overrated
    Braveheart 6/10 Well made but forgettable
    Forrest Gump 1/10 Worst of the lot. This beat Pulp Fiction
    Schindler's list 9/10 Excellent film only spoiled by Spielbergs occasional sentimentality
    Unforgiven 6/10 Yawn. Worthy but oh so dull
    The Silence of the lambs 9/10 One of the best films of the decade.
