Are there any Australian films without him in?
A normal person must
Dismiss you with disgust
And weep for those who trusted you.
I like the part where she's fat and they make fun over her and the chick with the short hair swoops in with a cuntacular save.
Oh LOVES I was just thinking the other day that I need to see this again and LO AND BEHOLD it's on FILM4 tonight
Are you MURIEL HESLOP?
No.
Yes you are!
Why?
I dunno why, you just ARE!
And oh...
Oh HOW MANY YEARS
Is it NOW Maurice?
10/10
This is one of my alltime favourite films. It's just magical.
Oooh is this on tonight - I must watch. I haven't seen it in about 8 months![]()
You haven't done anything terrible with that blank cheque I gave you, have you Muriel?
And oh...
Oh HOW MANY YEARS
Is it NOW Maurice?
I'd only ever seen bits and pieces of it until I finally got the DVD last year (inspired by a PM of Cécile's). A re-watch is in order, I feel!
Hey go get the doctor
Doctor came too late...
Who's watching it now?
A normal person must
Dismiss you with disgust
And weep for those who trusted you.
And she was THE MOST USELESS ONE OF ALL, wasn't she Bill?
And oh...
Oh HOW MANY YEARS
Is it NOW Maurice?
Nothing floors me more than: Muriel, the police are here to see you. It's about your dress.
I didn't think, I just posted
She's a WONDERFUL PERSON, I don't care what anyone else says
All those people who've never liked Dad. Those GREENIES and those TERRIBLE WOMEN at the post office

I love I Do being where it is - to me that song sounds kind of miserable, or maybe that's because I associate it with this film (in a good way). 10/10 from me.
Reflected onto the wet pavement, can you see what I see?
Love this movie, wish they'd release it on blu ray already!
I watched this tonight (hadn't seen it for a few years) and it really is fantastic - I find quite a bit of it uncomfortable viewing though, particularly the scenes with her dad.
"The few who understand me and learn from me will be wise beyond belief" - Lauren Harries
On Film4 again. I seriously never tire of this film.
I now have I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do stuck in my head.

There are so many amazing lines in this film. I'm not sure why most of them are amazing. Maybe it's that it's all so very Australian or maybe it's that the casting and the acting is absolutely spot on.
Toni Collette's delivery of lines like "....An apprentice locksmith!" and "I'm a beauty consultant!" absolutely kills me, time and time again.
And no matter how many times I hear it, I'll never not be a little bit delirious when Rachel Griffiths asks/exclaims "YOU JILTED A COP?!".
The mother storyline is pretty devastating. I never think of the film as a comedy though, even though it's probably one of the funniest films ever.
I used to fancy the video-store guy, something rotten.
It's that sort of squashed up look.
