Hello moopsters! I was born on the Eurovision fan site esctoday.com and quickly grew to be one of the more vocal members eventually, like many of my friends on the site, getting banned for not being a brain-dead Turkish spammer. I am familiar we KatySWE and aaargh! after having seen them comment on said site. I have popped up now and again in places, like Pop poster girl's blog and I've actually been in quite a dilemma recently. I'm off to uni in October so I wasn't sure whether or not to join Moopy, but after being a lurker for about a month I finally caved in and joined!
In which country do you live?
How many years have you been watching the Eurovision Song Contest
Properly since 2006
Quickly, name three countries whose entries you generally like
Iceland, Estonia and Ukraine (Sweden is a given)
Carola or Amina - which do you wish had won?
I was only 4 months old at the time, but the first vote I ever cast was for Carola in 2006...so I'd like to think that if I could, I would have done the same thing back then. In short, Carola!
Do you know who Lotta Engberg is?
I do, but if you asked me to sing one of her songs, I'd have to chuck my coca-cola in your face and leg it for the nearest exit - unless "Vem é dé du vill ha" counts.
What is your favourite winning song of the...
Greece 2005: "My Number One" - Helena Paparizou
Norway 1995: "Nocturne" - Secret Garden
Norway 1985: "La det swinge" - Bobbysocks
Sweden 1974: "Waterloo" - ABBA
France 1960: "Tom Pillibi" - Jacqueline Boyer / Luxembourg 1965: "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" - France Gall
Can you sing any of the winning songs from the 1950s?
No, but they're generally rather dull, the right songs never one. I've been told I do a good "Lilla stjärna" and "Nel blu dipinto di blu (Volare)"!
If you had a Eurovision song played at your funeral, which would it be?
The acoustic version of "Evighet" - only sung by Carola please
Is CatCat's Bye Bye Baby the greatest Finnish song ever?
Which is your favourite nil points entry ever? (You can pick Pierro and the Music Stars, Little My)
Norway 1978: "Mil etter mil" - Jahn Teigen *utter leg-end*
Rate the following out of 100...
(0 = Worse than Hitler, if you saw them on the other side of the road, you'd run up to them and push them in traffic
50 = Quite indifferent to them
100 = You'd throw yourself in front of traffic if you thought they would be impressed by it)
Cliff Richard 25
Ofra Haza 100
Lena Philipsson 200 - may I have this?
What is the most played Eurovision tune on your computer/mp3 player?
I reset the playcounts on my iTunes every year so...
2006: "My Number One" by Helena Paparizou
2007: "Visionary Dream" by Sopho
2008: "This Is My Life/Fullkomið líf" by Euroband (plays combined) or "Qele, qele" by Sirusho
2009: "Rändajad" by Urban Symphony
So that's everything, I just wanted a nice, familiar place to post my first message before I venture out and jump into the shark-tank for real!
