confused How many lipstick colours/shades are there really?

Despite the clown and stage make-up which has all shades like yellow, blue and green, there really seems to be just red and pink and a few variations on that.

There are a couple of darker brown-ish and purply tones I think, and ones meant for dark skin. Red and pink very of course.

What are your favourite shades - whether they be the subtle, natural "not wearing any make-up" look (bit pointless sounding!) or if you're really going all out to impress and power dress?

The google images for tranny make-up is amusing.

    Fire engine red is whorealicious.

And you're not REALLY an ENDOMORPH are you? Or is that more your body image?! I always imagined you to be tiny and petite. Like a little doll. Or Kylie.

I saw a bright purple one the other day in liquid form. Apparently you're supposed to mix it.

There are millions of different reds for a start - bluey red, yellowey red, orangey, pinky red, purpley red...for a start.

Then pinks you've got fushia, pastel pink, bubblegum pink, natural pink etc...

Then on top of that you have different finishes such as sheer, matte, frost, gloss.

    There are literally ENDLESS variations.

My favourites are bright pinks and mauves. I'm also partial to a nice coral red. Not so much a fan of the beigey/brown family. If i want neutral I go for a soft sheer pink.

There's a new MAC collection out soon featuring an orange lipstick in a lustre finish which is my favourite of their finishes that I may have to purchase.

This MAY be a stupid question, I don't know. But can the same colour lipstick look different on different people?

yes, because it depends on the actual colour of your lips to start with - some are more pigmented than others. mine are quite pinky so i do not suit the beigey neutrals.

One of my most beloved lipsticks is bright fushia pink with tiny bits of blue reflect in it - awesome!

I only own red lipsticks. As I am fairly olived skinned, I tend to go for a lightly darker shade, more berry than fire red, which suits pale skins better. Other than that I tend to wear glosses or lipbalm.

I only do very neutral colours, or at a stretch bright glittery pinks. I can't get away with red.

My mum can't wear lipstick at all without looking really uncomfortable, but my lips are fuller than hers.

I used to try on my gran's orange lipstick which was in her lipstick box. Orangey.. and orange is red + yellow innit.

I suppose goths get more creative with shades and wear black and purply ones. Or you'd think. Robert Smith didn't though!

Aww thanks!I do struggle to find the right shade, some are a bit too orange for me or too purple!

My eyes are odd - sometimes they just look brown but other times they look two tone like the picture, with a greenish rim around the outside.

Beccy there is a MAC red lippie that everyone is PURE BUMMING over at the moment you should check it out - it's called Port Red and is part of a limited edition collection and it'll only be around for another few weeks.

I got a bourjois waterbased lipstain thing at lunch time as well - they look really nice for everyday wear. i got a pinky one but they had a really red one as well.

MAC liquilast is awesome but fluidline is better - totally stays on ALL day.
