I wish Carola had kept the "Åh, jag älskar dig" in the Invincible lyrics. I love watching everyone shout that out in clubs.

I do like the "Not easy to remember, And even harder to forget" part of It Hurts. That seemed quite clever.

I'm quite eager to find out who's going to buck the trend of singing in English after winning with a song in Swedish, Carola and Lena both did it, do we think that it's possible for a song to still be sung in the original language after winning the NF?

Or perversely, will someone win in english and then perform at the ESC in Swedish?

    A normal person must
    Dismiss you with disgust
And weep for those who trusted you.

Well done RobotBoy on this list. I may not agree on the placings of the songs ( I would have had Mitt i ett äventyr as my personal #1) I really can't fault this.

The problem with Lena wasn't the fact that it was translated into English, I feel that it more to do with the fact that her performance in the ESC final was so fucking flat. No energy, no feeling, nothing.

Yes, that's my favourite line too. Along with 'Ingenting kan stoppa mig'

I am so fed up with Lena. She needs to get her rather amazing ass into the studio and start recording another Opus. It is getting ridiculous now
Hey i'm Mollie, i love being a Saturday!! I love New York, going out for breakfast, Jack Wills, Gossip Girl and Nissan Figaros!

I am a bit too, but I'm planning on going to see her live in Stockholm later this year so that will tide me over for a while.

I'd just like someone to do a Lena countdown as I only have her last 2 studio albums then all the obvious classics. I think I'm probably missing a lot of gems.

I agree, I think Carola's crowning glory to date has been Evighet.

My Carola favourites change quite a bit, but when I'm pretending to be her I like När löven faller, Genom allt (especially the performance at Melodifestivalen 2005), Modersvingen, Säg mig var du står and Stanna eller gå.

    Carola doesn't SUCK at all

But to compare her to QUEEN OF ALL THINGS GOOD AND HOLY LENA is QUITE the schoolboy error
It's been too long, it's been too long...

Lena was AMAZING at Pride. One of the best live performers I've ever seen in the flesh.

Yeah, Lucky Star is totally different to One Love. Very understated and beautiful.

    LIES.

Jake, I bought the Guld Platina & Passion box set a few years ago (for about £40!) but it's reduced now to about £17 on cdon. Search on cdon.com for Guld Platina & Passion - Det Mesta (4CD).

It's 4 CDs of all her single releases up to 2003, rarities etc in an amazing box with gorgeous liner notes etc. It'll help you identify the periods of her career that you're interested in and can then buy the studio albums (all of which are dirt cheap) accordingly.

I'd also really recommend the 'My Show' album.

It really is lovely. It's on proud display on the top of my DVD cabinet. Definitely worth £17 when you can use cdon again.

I am so going to get it...i am looking at the tracklisting and there is like 12 million tracks. It is well worth £17ish quid for that alone.

I did manage to watch 'Jubileumsshowen' online ages ago and that was well worth watching

Yes, I have Junileumsshowen and it's proper even if just to laugh at her costumes and how fat she was. God bless her.

The box set is amazing, but prepare yourself for the horrors that are 'Save The Children' and 'Schizophrenic'.

I also only just discovered this recently. Carola and Tito Beltran singing 'Time To Say Goodbye' at the Rhapsody In Rock Tour in the mid 90s. It's one of my favourite songs of all time and I'm so excited to have found a version of it by my favourite singer! She puts in a remarkable vocal on it too...

FYI: Beltran is the tenor who was sentenced to a prison term earlier this year for an alleged rape that happened on this very tour. Carola had to testify in court.

This song is so good that it was included on TWO consecutive studio albums! Originally recorded in 2005 and, I believe, premiered at the 2005 Melodifestivalen Final at Globen, it was the BIG return to schlager that Carola fans had been waiting for! The only problem was that it was tacked on to the end of the distinctly non-schlager album 'Störst Av Allt', which was nice enough but not exactly what anyone was waiting for. It was later tacked onto the end of 2006s 'Från nu till evighet', just before Invincible, where it felt much more at home. This performance was another milestone for me in terms of realising just what an amazing performer she is. This was also the song she performed on the massively popular TV show Allsång på Skansen when she infamously threw a pot plant at one of the audience. Seeing as the lyrics see Carola at her God-bothering best, perhaps she was told to throw the plant at some wicked heathen or other? Unfortunately that performance seems to have disappeared from Youtube. It's worth noting that Carola wrote this song entirely on her own. She's not just a pretty face!

I remember watching this in 2005 not knowing a huge amount about Carola (Other than her previous Eurovision entries) at the time, and going WHY DOES SHE NOT ENTER MF AGAIN, the performance was disgracefully great, I think she showed up a lot of the finalists to be honest. Lo and behold 2006...
