A few thoughts from me on the elections;

This is pretty much the ONLY serious thing we do all year, so I really do expect serious votes, no attempts to rig or anything like that. Think about who you're voting for, for once it's not a popularity contest. You're voting for the people you think will be able to help run this site smoothly and fairly over the course of the next year. They need to be people you feel you can trust with the powers they will be given, but also people who are willing to help develop Moopy even further.

1. This year will be my TENTH year at Dotmusic/Moopy. Anyone else been here longer?
2. I'm online a lot and when I am, I usually have Moopy open.
3. I'm very neutral and rarely have personal feuds with any other posters.
4. I'm pedantic about things like polls so will always be up to edit any ones that have gone wrong.
5. I have experience modding a forum. Albeit the MJ one is very small, when people are being morons I have pulled my finger out and deleted posts and banned people.

One bad point:
* I don't always go into every morning thread or every long personal chatty thread and sometimes miss big things unless someone alerts me to them.

I think I am a good all rounder on Moopy. I get along with 90% of people and can be impartial. I get involved with all things Moopy related and think I have good ideas and suggestions for the site which I happily put forward. (Moopy Gold was one of mine that got implemented) I have also have experience of modding another forum before so have some idea on how that side of things works.

I also think I get involved in lots of different forums and am not afraid to step out of my comfort zone. I have lots of interests which aren't the Moopy norm but think this is great for Moopy diversity!

Plus I love planning events and organising things!

I've been doing it a year and while I haven't been perfect I do think I'm one of the most involved moderators on the site. I'm constantly doing little things like correcting errors and adding polls at the request of posters. In the mod forum I try to add my voice to as many discussions as possible and I like to think I'm quite open minded and willing to listen to the other side. For example I was initially against a travel forum but ultimately it turned out to be a good idea.

Also I'm online a lot, and at different hours to the office-based crew, and I'm in a lot of forums that other mods don't spend as much time in. Finally, for better or worse, if it wasn't for me we wouldn't have had the Spice Girls Forum, which ultimately had to go (and I accepted that without much argument) but was a huge success for us while it existed, and contributed greatly to our post count. With things like that I feel I represent the voice of a number of posters who are sometimes overlooked because their opinions aren't neccesarily particularly cool.

So yeah I rule vote for me.

I would like to be considered as a moderator because I fink I would be good at it.

I use moopy primarily as a form of relaxation, and if there is something on here that I find annoying/frustrating, or something that I feel would improve the site I have never been one to be quiet about it - For example in my time I have campaigned (hard) for the Food Forum, the Britney Forum and waaaaay back in the day the Pop forum - and whilst the Britney forum might not be the most popular forum on the site - I'm sure most people would agree that all three definitely serve a purpose on here, and moopy is better for having them.

I can't really be fucked with arguments on here because its not really what I use moopy for, and as such I don't really have much of a bias towards people on here, aside from posters that are good and posters that are bad, so I think I will be quite fair and impartial when it comes to making decisions and shizzle.

Also as I mod I think I would be quite good as I'd be happy to split threads off if needed (Not that I would do it ALL THE TIME at all), but nothing frustrates me more on here than there being several conversations going on in one thread (not including daily threads), particularly if they are interesting conversations/discussions as they can often get missed by other posters if they off on a tangent seperate to the topic title and die quickly.

I hope this made sense. Anyway basically I think I would be fair, and not afraid to speak out, also I think I could bring new ideas to the table which could potentially make moopy better, but without doing it for the sake of doing something new.

Personal Statement:

I think I would make a good moderator because I would bring a fresh approach to the role and enhance the development of the site. If elected, I promise to push for new forums, such as a fan fiction forum, re-word thread titles , ban people for posts which use acronyms, delete random posts by the likes of Emma for entertainment value and generally behave like an infuriating tosser.
In summary : a vote for me is a vote for random bannings, campaigns for a Doctor Who forum, random thread deletions, pompous self-promotion, rewriting posts so that posters appear to be insulting other posters, rewriting thread titles, lots of threads about various blonde catamites and general annoyance.

OK, so I think it best for the site (not bigging myself up - well OK a bit), that I should stand. It would be easy to just do a Sheena and let my fame/infamy do the talking. However... I have been involved in the site whether it be pushing Dr Lecter for change, my term as admin or my time since as an unelected mod. I had special mod status, due to by willingness to ban members, but I had this changed I was added to the regular mod team last year. Bannings can be lifted within seconds, hence why we have a team! Anything I do can pretty much be made right! So I feel it's time if I stand up and be counted rather than just assume my position as a right...

Prior to my time as admin, I was probably behind more than 50% of the changes that happened to this site, via my nagging of Dr Lecter. I have always believed it's important that the site moves on and doesn't get stale, which during a period in the first couple of years it was very much looking like... During my short reign as admin, I like to think I put the wheels in motion of what we now know as Moopy and that Star has carried on brilliantly. A fast moving site, that's willing to adapt and change for more than just success, but very much for maintaining quality. I've pushed some times successfully and sometimes less so for things as simple as forum name changes, that totally give a dead forum a new dimension. I believe pulling out topics from Moopy Moop into new lifestyle forums has been a huge success and has increased the broad appeal of the site. Our use of advertising has meant that there hasn't been a need for some time, not *rattle the tin*, meaning we pay for ourselves.

I'm more than happy to rid us of special needs posters. Just because they make 300 posts in a week, we could be losing potential quality posters in the process. It's all swings and roundabouts! Sure making a lot of posts is important, but if it's a 1,000 a day of pure bullshit, what's the point... Moopy is about quality AND quantity!

There's so much else I could say about what I've done and pushed for on this site, but it already feels like bragging! I encourage you all to vote for a varied team. Some of the younger and newer posters on this site have brought a huge amount in the last year or so and I think they desperatley needed to push through ideas and be around to give forums a push in certain directions... While I may be feeling apathetic right now and may well be moving on to pastures new in a few months, I will ALWAYS have my eye open for things that could be changed on the site for all our good!

I am an enthusiastic, hard-working individual who always aims for excellence of Moopy. I am dedicated to every task, no matter how small, and I continually look to exceed Moopy's expectations. Oh I shall again throw my hat in the ring.

I think I've done all thats needed as a mod over the past two years, unobtrusive as it needs to be in many ways, but always ready to do a bit of shifting and editing and deleting and all that finnaigling as and when necessary. But more importantly I think I've been pretty active in sharing ideas and opinions, working in the mod forum and in conjunction with star on stuff that comes up as and when. I like where Moopy has gone in the last couple of years and think a good balance has been reached, I'd like to think I'm a part of that and would continue to be so, if the modding team does change with new blood I reckon I'm in a good position to work alongside and keep an even keel etc...

Welcome to my campaign against the internet's assault on our liberty.

On 19 June, I announced my intention to run for Moopy mod, in disgust and dismay at the manner in which other forums baulk at jokes about Madeline McCann, or vomit at the phrase "cunt off".

Seriously, I've found nowhere like Moopy online. I spend so many hours on here, but I don't regret it. Most of the posts here (even some of Rachey's) are worth reading, and it's fast replacing wikipedia for more first port of call for advice or info.

So what, I love moopy - so do most of the people running here. If this is a pure popularity contest, then I probably stand no chance. However, I hope you will consider voting me - I think I would make a good mod for the following:

• I have plenty of experience of the use of websites and other software. I was a webmaster of my graduate union's website and forums, and on Moopy I've regularly created new banner designs.
• I've been members of committees before, and have debated, moderated and come up with compromises to many an argument.
• I have ideas for improving moopy:
  • I created a blog to try and funnel new posters to the Eurovision section
  • I think we should spend some of the money trying to acquire the Moopy.com URL
  • We should changed the vbulletin favicon with the symbol.
  • We should put a little classified ad in Private Eye with only our address and a question mark, and see what happens
• I am sad enough, and shameless enough, to write this boring nomination - I'd obviously take the position seriously.

In the few days since I announced my application, I have been overwhelmed by the public response. I hope you can let me know your views on these important issues.

However I would like to continue as a supermod, and I hope you will vote for me to do so. I know I haven't been very visible as admin, but I have been doing general mod stuff such as banning spammers, editing out their spam links and PORN pics, and I have never done anything rash such as banning someone on a whim. I am here practically all of the working day during the week, when there often aren't many regular posters online, so I can help keep an eye on things.

I've really not got time to write an essay for this but suffice to say I'd love to get re-elected to the mod team as I think I've done a great job the last couple of years always contributing and offering ideas and opinions in the mod forum that have been acted on. I'm pretty level headed when it comes to decision making.

I also make an effort to start threads in moopy moop when we get a bit "morning thread heavy".

I can also take joint credit with indie for the massively successful rep race.

I reckon in the past people have gone in for it for the entire "OOH, I want to be a mod, get me!" factor. Admittedly I only used to put into it to write an amusing nomination speech (which thankfully people saw through! wasn't here nearly enough or had the motivation to do anything with purpose in the past).

I SPOSE if I fancied it, I'd probably try and do something useful with the moddin for the offbeat forums that people don't see too, get some stick actions in there.

And I would so split out running themes from the morning thread. I don't like this theme where people are unable to talk unless the thread has a day of the week in the title. If you've got something to talk about, START A THREAD.

But yeah, very little so far on people giving good "what I'll do for l'Moop" evidence so far in the noms.

Ok then, my bottom line is that I wouldn't be beige or a Paris Hilton mod, I would be pro-active in trying to make things a bit more vibrant to people. I love all people apart from Jade Goodie so wouldn't cockwave status around... I spend my job/life trying to make things better for people, so I want to do it for you too.

OK so, if I were mod, I would attempt to be Star's emergency :geek:

I do have many years' experience developing websites. Beyond that I was a producer so understand the aesthetic side of "user experience", and can offer ideas based on that. People know I have offered a couple of restrucuring ideas before; one in particular worked out. I would also offer to be the contact point for our server hosts, if that is what Star would like.

Then there is the fact that I'm always here, know pretty much everyone, etc etc.

I am not, contrary to minor opinion and the running jokes that occur here, someone who would be moany, subjective or a pain in the ass. I am one of the most objective people here - don't confuse (overly?) passionate debator with constructive thinking when it matters. I would offer ideas, not complain about things that aren't working.

I don't want to be elitist, I can do that in conversation with VoR (love you VOR)... I just want to help. I LIKE TO HELP.
