I was a bit shocked that this hasn't been discussed yet. This is one that's also available to view in full on YouTube...there's nothing like watching a drunk Bette Davis.
Also spot a young Marilyn Monroe.

Bette did far better in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, I believe.
Absolutely phenomenal film. It crackles with wit from start to finish, the acting is amazing throughout (though Bette and George Sanders are the best), the plot is wonderful and it's just PERFECT. One of my all time favourites

I LOVE this film.
Every bit of Bette's dialogue sounds like it could bite your nose off. It's perfect. It took me years to appreciate Anne Baxtor's work in this film - she was so good that I hated her in it, which the story about her upgrading her Oscar nom to cock-block Davis didn't exactly help. And Celeste is such a classy actress.

Fab film. i have trouble getting into getting films from this generation but not this one. Davis' best film after Baby Jane.

This is my favourite Davis film.
It just suits her so well - she is so bitter, jaded, yet glamourous in it.
Anne Baxter and George Sand were amazing also
Everything about this film works so well.
Wasn't this out the same year as 'Sunset Boulevard' which is another one of my al time favourites.
And Born Yesterday, another 10/10 for me at least.

I have just seen this for the first time... shit the bed, I've been missing out. It's wall to wall one liners... I don't think I've ever seen such a witty film.
Bette Davis was SENSATIONAL!
It actually baffles me what audiences in 1950 would have made of it? I mean some of the humour was very subtle, dry and actually very very smart!
A bit of Wiki action reveals that the actress who played Karen is STILL alive!
Celeste Holm = great. She was the only watchable thing in Gentleman's Agreement. She's in 3 Men And A Baby but I don't remember what she played in that.

A few years since I read it, but full of GOSSIP & BITCHCRAFT
Saw this for the first time tonight and it is shit-the-bed amazing. So funny from start to finish, very dry, perfectly acted and just wonderful. The three ladies were all incredible, George Sanders was absolutely fabulous and it was exciting to see Marilyn Monroe popping up too. I can't believe I haven't had this in my life all these years. I preferred it to "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" too, as far as Bette films I've seen go.

I need to watch this again soon. I just downloaded and burned to DVD a British film Bette starred in called Another Man's Poison, also co-starring her husband from All About Eve and in real life.

What fabulous movie, great performances all around and all made better by how much it seems that the other two women hated Bette. The only disappointing part was the last scene with the new girl which i thought was a bit cliched, I'd have preferred Eve to have gone back to an empty hotel room.
And of course with every Bette movie comes a bunch of these...

Bette and Anne Baxter apparently got on really well though, Celeste does come across as a sour bitch in the book but then it's obvious with whom the author's sympathies lie.
Just put this on, as I've never seen it and its on Netflix classics.

Bette really was the FUCKING QUEEN of being FABULOUS. Before any of these PISSWEAK QoLs you all go on about nowadays. It's to my ETERNAL MISERY that I will never have seen her at work during my own lifetime, being far too young when she died. I know I mention it in JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE TOPIC POSSIBLE but this is an absolute gay man's BIBLE of being a FABULOUSLY over the top CUNT

I'm reading 'Bette and Joan: The Divine Feud' at the moment.
This book is seriously required reading for every gayboy of all descriptions.
Those 2 women were seriously amazing.
I'm sort of surprised that about 1/3 of the way into the book, I'm preferring Joan to Bette (whom I've always adored).
Joan was SUCH an insane slut (as Bette so memorably said 'She's had every male MGM star, except for Lassie') spreading her legs for literally ANYONE. Joan had such a horrible early life and was so coarse and common that when she arrived at MGM she became totally insulated from the outside world, to the point where she could barely separate her screen life from her offscreen life.
Bette on the other hand so far seems very headstrong, bitchy, snobbish and vengeful but far more grounded in reality.
I'm only up to 1940 so far but this is rivetting reading.
I bought that book before Christmas, but have yet to read it. Although I did look at the sporadic Rita Hayworth mentions, and was impressed by the level of detail. It was very "Hayworth had no make up on, but still left with her man."

It really is very muckraking but in a very detailed and funny way.
The weird thing is that I am AGOG with this book, but as I am picturing the scenarios described in the book, in my head, I am picturing them all in black and white.
Joan has just adopted her daughter Christina, so I reckon her insanity will accelerate fairly soon.....

Bette is still my favourite actress but godammit. Joan Crawford was wild. She was portrayed as this demented, self-obsessed, delusional, insecure, cleanfreak, alcoholic whore. Incredibly successful star that must have slept with thousands of men (no chance of an accidental pregnancy for our Joan. Those botched abortions in the 1920's ensured that Joan's vag would never be soiled by the horrors of childbirth. ) Allegedly she had a lesbonic encounter with Marilyn Monroe when she was 50. Her daughter was an ungrateful little cunt. She should be grateful that she was abused by Joan Crawford.

I read that a few weeks ago. Excellent book - I'd never twigged that Eve was such a lesbian. I knew Addison was gay of course. Interesting how this all got through the 1950's censors.I'd recommend this book for people who enjoy it

Bette Davis and Anne Baxter remained good friends till Baxter's death in 1985 (Bette received her breast cancer diagnosis while staying as a guest at Anne Baxter's house, but outlived Anne by 4 years.)
Celeste Holm sounds dreary and petty, although she's great in the role of Karen of course.
Strangely enough 'All About Eve' was turned into a Broadway stage musical in the early 70's. It was called 'Applause'. It was a big hit, ran for 3 years - the 1st 2 years starred Lauren Bacall as Margo Channing, the last year starred Anne Baxter as Margo.
Bette Davis went to see it 12 times.
Joan Crawford used to leave her phone off the hook and refuse all contact any night 'All About Eve' was on. Allegedly it was because she so admired the director Joseph L Mankiewicz so much (though she did have him fired from a movie she made earlier.)
I'll bet her nasty daughter Christina got a beating any time 'All About Eve' was on telly.
