Looking back there are some VERY odd choices in there.
Think i'll do a new one soon.
Some interesting choices there...my list is a bit 2001-2007 heavy...but still there are quite a few early ones that made it in.
let's get this rolling
40. "My Only Wish (This Year)"
Year: 2000
Album: Platinum Christmas
Tell me my true love is near
It's not as famous as Mimi's "All I Want for Christmas", but it sure is just as festive if not more so. Britney's one and only Christmas song "My Only Wish" was featured on some Christmas compilation and it continues to be my iPod/iTunes staple during the holidays. Anyway, the song is filled with cheer and is all wintery. Unfortunately, it got arguibly overshadowed by Christina's lame Christmas effort which managed to get a top 20 chart placing in the US while Britney's gem stalled.

39. "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart"
Year: 1999
Album: ...Baby One More Time
Charts: US #14, UK N/R
But you put a dart through my dreams through my heart
And I'm back where I started again
Okay, I'll admit in reality the song is a bit shit, but there's something about it that I love...the video is a piece of art taking a page from Cyndi Lauper's "Time after Time" with a small town girl moving away, or moving on in life to her ambitions and saying goodbye to her loved ones. The US got this as the fourth single while pretty much everywhere else got "Born to Make You Happy" which became an international mega hit. [random Britney fact]Britney was stung by a bee while filming the music video...THANKFULLY she managed to pull it together and carry on[/random Britney fact].
this is all for tonight
38. "(You Drive Me) Crazy [The Stop Remix!]"
Year: 1999
Album: ...Baby One More Time
Charts: US #10, UK #5
The Earth is movin, but I can't feel the ground
The third hit off of Britney's debut album was also in the soundtrack of that awful Melissa Joan Hart film Drive Me Crazy. One of the parties involved continued having success the other didn't, I think you know who we're talking about. The video is pretty amazing, in its own dated late-90s way.
STOP!
Anyway, this remix was the definitive version of the song that was used in the main video..frankly, it's the ONLY version I think I've heard.

'My Only Wish' is great, particularly as she appeared to have recorded it with a blocked up nose.
I'd quite like to do a Britney listing
I'd probably not get beyond top 20, mind...
It's been too long, it's been too long...
How can any RATIONAL PERSON put (You Drive Me) Crazy SO LOW
FEARLESS FEMALE
'(You Drive Me) Crazy' is quite possibly the most important song of all time
*may not be true*
Hey i'm Mollie, i love being a Saturday!! I love New York, going out for breakfast, Jack Wills, Gossip Girl and Nissan Figaros!
'Born To Make You Happy' had better do well. I am probably in the minority but it is totally my favourite Britney song. It is all about the spastic dance moves, that me and some mates in no way learned when i was 11ish
Hey i'm Mollie, i love being a Saturday!! I love New York, going out for breakfast, Jack Wills, Gossip Girl and Nissan Figaros!
Oh, SMASHING, this will compliment what is most likely going to be 'tidying and packing to Britney' day. Roll on the VMAs (when do we get them here actually? I take it MTV UK isn't showing them live, the fuckers)
POP!, i have confidence in you to give Lucky the top 10 placing it deserves![]()
we get the vma show tomorrow i think
Hey i'm Mollie, i love being a Saturday!! I love New York, going out for breakfast, Jack Wills, Gossip Girl and Nissan Figaros!
I also found out the other day that 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' was intended for Britney as a hit back to Justin and 'Cry Me A River'. I think i am probably the last person in the world to know that.
Hey i'm Mollie, i love being a Saturday!! I love New York, going out for breakfast, Jack Wills, Gossip Girl and Nissan Figaros!
she was also offered "Graffiti My Soul" (Girls Aloud) but twas rejected on the basis that it doesn't have a chorus
and "Me Against the Music" DOES ?![]()
I didn't think, I just posted
I don't really understand why so many people hail Grafitti My Soul as some sort of classic.
It probably would have been better than a lot of Britney's album tracks, but that is not praise.
Oh don't get our hopes up Reet, it's not 100% confirmed that we're getting one (unless I've missed sumt).
EDIT:
We got our hopes up, only to have them CRUSHED.
But, this is probably for the best.
PerezHilton.com just spoke to Britney Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, and he tells us exclusively that the former and (hopeful) once-again Princess of Pop is NOT performing at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
She is 100% not performing, Larry assured us, but she will be attending and opening the show.
Rudolph has repeatedly stated recently that Spears was NOT performing, a statement echoed closely by the reps at MTV.
So, what to make of that footage that leaked on Friday that showed Britney rehearsing to a new song of her with some dancers???
"She was not rehearsing for the VMAs," Rudolph tells us. "It was just her going into the studio with some dancer friends and having fun. It's a regular occurrence now. I see that every day."
But we don't! And we got VERY excited.
Well, we think it's wise that Spears wait until she's 110% ready to perform and make a killer comeback.
But, Larry tells us, that day is not too far away!

She's opening at about 2 or 3am UK time, so presumably it'll appear on youtube shortly after...
37. "Don't Go Knockin' on My Door"
Year: 2000
Album: Oops!...I Did it Again
You say you miss me like crazy now
But I ain't buyin' that, you better get off of my back
The fourth consecutive 'early' single on the countdown, "Don't Go Knockin' on My Door" is probably much better than I originally remembered it to be. Unlike many of the other non-single tracks on Oops!... it oozed personality and attitude. It would've made a perfect single too, but they had to move on to Britney pretty quickly, ah well.
Either this or What U See (Is What U Get) would have made far better singles than DLMBTLTK. Another waste!
heeeeeeeeeeeyyyyy britnneeeaayyyy
36. "Me Against the Music"
Year: 2003
Album: In the Zone
Charts: US #35, UK #2
I'm up against the speaker, tryin' to take on the music
It's like a competition, me against the beat
I wanna get in the zone, I wanna get in the zone
Seems a bit odd for me to have a Britney/Madonna collab so low, but really this could have been so much better than it already was! Firstly, let's be honest, Madge did not belong in this track...her 'singing' bits seemed a bit uncomfortable and out of touch, she seemed like Britney's crazy bisexual Grandmother in the video, the cane, the awful styling for her didn't help. It made Britney look hotter, which I guess was the point. Strangly enough the big duet ended up being the smallest hit off of In the Zone in many places. It probably doesn't deserve the wrath it gets from some though, as it's still a pretty great little pop song. I'd post the actual video, but this parody is more entertaining.

I don't MIND it at all but it's SO LESS the sum of its parts...
It's been too long, it's been too long...
And the French and Saunders parody is FAR funnier
It's been too long, it's been too long...
While we're on the subject of MATM, here is one of my favourite Britney performances.
She actually sings the first verse live (and attempts some of the rest) before giving up to the backing track because she can't breathe
Love the breakdown dance routine as well.

35. "Born to Make You Happy"
Year: 1999
Album: ...Baby One More Time
Charts: UK #1
I'd better give it up and carry on
'Cause living in a dream of you and me
Is not the way my life should be
"Born to Make You Happy" was the international fourth single off of the debut album. While the song is pretty much an up-tempo track it has the qualities of some bittersweet ballad. Since I pretty much followed Britney's career since the beginning, I was shocked when I discovered this video online one day as the US channels never aired it before. It's possibly one of her stronger videos as well, with a hot dance routine and all. It's also probably the fan favorite of the first album.
Way too low.
