Split screen multiplayer was so much fun

Got to be one of the best games of all time really. I spent many a wasted day playing this over and over with my friends.
I WISH they would make a proper (good) sequal.
I played this once and didn't realise the shoot button (X) was on the other side of the controller COMPLETELY HIDDEN AWAY, so I just wandered around and had no idea what to do or how to kill anything/body.
Because of the reason I have always thought this game to be QUITE CRAP, but I imagine it is me in the wrong and not the game so I will abstain from voting.

To be fair, its hard to rate this. at the time it was Captain Awesome wth uni friends. playing it now is horrific. no dual stick controls, terrible framerate and sluggish response. Perfect Dark got even worse with lots of bots going.
The people behind this are now Free Radical, responsible for Timesplitters and the terrible Haze.

Do you like Timesplitters Widge? I think 2 & 3 are amazing, but didn't quite have enough to them to become classics.
I think with these rates we have to try and rate them how we would at the time of their release.

I dunno.... some games are still good today. Snes mario, zelda, secret of mana etc... your various final fantasies, mgs1, gran turismo.... lots of stuff from that gen.
still was ace multiplayer at the time.
never touched timesplitters... once I'd hit halo, that was king.

I LOVE(D) THIS. Proper fantastic stuff.
Nothing to see here MOVE ALONG.
This would quite easily fit into my top ten of all time. The single player mode was great, but i've never played a game so often on multiplayer. Back in the day it used to be a case of taking your own joypad round to a mate's house for a foursome *cough*
I personally never got the huge love for this, maybe because I didn't play it when it was first out and came to it a while later. An 8.

Oh I loved it! They nailed the single player so, so well. Loved how you got more missions the harder you played it. Made is so much more replayable, and of course the unlockables for finishing levels in certain times. And the only multiplayer worth doing was Golden Gun only on the "Complex" stage. Class.

Y'know, I really don't like games like this, but even I was sucked into the multiplayer charm. The levels were designed really well and it was just a lot of fun - they struck a good balance between accessibility for newbies (the Golden Gun which gave you a fighting chance of not being thrashed, for example) and depth for the fans.
It's never going to see the light of day again though, is it. Which is probably something of a relief, it'll be held in high regard by retro-loons for evermore.
I'm with Widge on this, playing it now is just disgusting.
10/10 even though yes, it's shit now
Back in the day it was THE FPS though.
