I wouldn't be at all surprised if Alcazar were the shock bomb of the night.

I reckon it could be Shirley and The Scotts DTG. AC is quite up in the air. I have a feeling Emilia might be the Cecilia Vennersten of the night and have a lovely but unexciting song which bombs.

From what my mate said, I think they are fully prepared for that. I really hope that isn't the case though and they at least make AC. Alcazar bombing out of MF in the semi's will be an even bigger upset for me than THE NICOLE last year!

Well if they aren't even confident in the song themselves then it can't bode well!

I don't dislike Alcazar like some people do, but I can't say I'm that fussed unless the song is amazing. None of the post-comeback stuff has REALLY grabbed me yet. It's all a bit shadow of former glories... I haven't heard Burning, mind.

    Now if SHIRL should bomb...

Really?! I mean, each to their own but I have been more than impressed with their comeback stuff. I loved We Keep On Rockin' and despite thinking Inhibitions wasn't as instant it really grew on me and has a great hook in the run up to the chorus. Burning is absolutely amazing and grabs you instantly - I can definitely see why they are going with this as the lead single in the UK. I've got a feeling that Stay The Night might be completely different to the three other tracks though.

I don't necessarily want to see Alcazar fail, but I do think they've been extremely lucky with their previous MF success, particularly with 'Alcastar'.

I really disagree. I think both their previous entries are bonafide 11/10 Melodifestivalen classics for me.

I've come around to the idea that Not A Sinner Nor A Saint absolutely deserved to win in 2003, but I agree they've been coasting since then!

NASNAS probably came about where it SHOULD have for me, there's a couple of songs I prefer, however the songs that DID come above it shouldn't have.

"NASNAS" would have been a PROPER HIT over here if it had been handled correctly...it was the best song Steps never did

NASNAS TOTALLY would have won Eurovision or at least come very close.

I prefer Hela Varlden For Mig and Genom Eld Och Vatten, but neither of those were going to do anything much. Although Sarek would have been a lovely leftfield choice.

Fame was a RUBBISH choice in a very strong year.

A few years too late though. I don't think the UK could have coped with that song in 2004. It just wouldn't have worked.

How RUBBISH a choice is a song that actually came 5th in Eurovision?

For a start it was 2003 and was the tail end of Steps...I'd have said it would have been a hit, perhaps not "One For Sorrow" levels of Abba aping madness, but it would have done alright...

I know it did well, I just think it was a very boring safe choice.

I genuinely think Alcazar or Jill Johnson would have done as well if not better.

I think nothing would have beaten Turkey, Belgium or Russia that year AT ALL.

Jill Johnson wouldn't have come CLOSE either...

One think I will say for Fame, I don't think any Swedish entry since has so succesfully recreated the energy and standard of performance from MF at the Eurovision itself. They NAILED it and I think that definitely helped it do well.

I think Jill would have stood out, you don't get much country-pop in Eurovision. Although it admittedly could have gone either way...

I don't think that Shirley is the DTG guarantee that everyone says she is.

The Scotts probably are definite DTG - because of timing rather than anything else.

And I'm probably alone in thinking this, but I reckon Marie Serneholt will get at least AC. I just can't see her bombing. Likewise with Alcazar.

Marie will be the Velvet of this year - she'll just miss out on AC. For starters she can't sing live.

This advert for The Scotts album doesn't fill me with massive confidence that I'll love the song...

Christer will want Alcazar and Shirley DTG, the two big names, Marie will come 5th, I can even picture it now. The Scotts and Emilia will go to the AC.

They're allowed pre-recorded backing vocals this year. I actually imagine it's the reason she's doing it after all these years.

Well, Alcazar are hardly as big a name as Scotts who are currently no. 1 on the album chart and Shirley Clamp, who was no. 1 on the album chart about three weeks ago.

I am happy with that prediction Samuel. However, I'd swap Alcazar with The Scotts. I think Alcazar are going to scrape through to AC.

Considering Christer made every effort to get Shirley into the competition last year, I doubt he'd have put her in that heat unless he was very very confident about the song.

I still don't think anyone can be considered a cert considering some of last year's upsets, but I'm not particularly worried about her. Yet.

I couldn't care less about Shirley. She's a shit singer and, with a ballad, I'm just not that interested unless it's amazing.

You keep saying she's a shit singer and I really don't understand at all.

She's inconsistent and prone to some quite embarassing bum notes, but when she's on form I think she has one of the very best voices on the Schlager scene.

O Holy Night from the new Christmas album is AMAZING.

I do wonder how songs in Swedish are gonna do this year, when you bear in mind that only 3 made the final last year and only 4 came top 4 in the heats...

O Holy Night is great, but it's autotuned to fuck. Her pitching is absolutely terrible compared to most schlager singers. 'Min Karlek' was great, obviously, and the performance was great because it was so comedy, but 'Att Alska Dig' was ruined by her poor vocals and, with a ballad, I'd rather have a Sonja or Sarah Dawn Finer who can actually nail the vocals. SORRY. Just my opinion.

I don't particularly consider Min Karlek to be a 'comedy' performance. In the heat she sang it near-perfectly, and in the final she just fucked up that one glory note.

Same with Att Alska Dig as a matter of fact. Her heats performance was magnificent.

These words are most likely to choke me but I sort of agree with RobotBoy, unless a song is 90% about the show of it, you want someone who you don't have question marks about vocally. Can Shirley be that person?
