Emilia MIGHT shock is what I gather. Certainly if the public vote for something a bit different.

I think Nina might go through over Marie because the Marie song just sounds like a Greek MESS, and Nina being able to sing and Marie barely being able to talk is another factor.
    I didn't think, I just posted

Well yes but remember that both aftonbladet's Tobbe Ek (nice, friendly and pretty much down to earth) and expressen's Anders Nunstedt (screaming queen who's way much up his own arse) are full on gayers and not always the most representative of the Swedish public.
Nothing to see here MOVE ALONG.

I feel exactly the same about the description. It is either going to sound like a CAR CRASH or the most amazing thing ever if they can pull it off. This might be the reason why Alcazar themselves don't have much confidence in their chances in this heat.

Most of the reports say that the Alcazar song is absolutely the best in the heat, the only question is the performance and the voting patterns that have always relegated Alcazar to the AC no matter what. All the reporters seem to feel that this heat is stronger than the first semi from last year, and there are at least four or five songs worth listening to.

And especially for YOU Jake, some of the reports have Marie with a good chance for AC. The key-change in her number is said to be SPECTACULAR if she can pull it off, punctuated by an unexpected moment of absolute silence.

I LOVE Marie...I want her in that final

The thing is this year, there is SO MUCH GOOD but I can see the final being AWFUL because none of it will get through...

So is Shirley getting great feedback or just "it'll do well because it's Shirley" feedback?

Is it a WINNER, that's what we need to know!

    apparently not a winner, no.

It's a lot like "Se Pa Mig" / "Karlekan Ar" , in that it's a misty sort of ballad which lacks any sort of real defining moment. So, what would have won in the nineties amongst 10 songs, probably won't be strong enough to win again 31 others.

That's my perception from what I've read, anyway.

The reports on Shirley are that the song is very good, and the refrain is supposed to be immediately heart-rending and inspiring. Some of the reporters wish that Shirley had gone along with her expressed wish to come back this year as a big overblown gay icon/disco queen.

The comparisons to Kärleken Är and Se På Mig were a bit of a shot at Ingela "Pling", the lyricist, who has fallen back on all the usual suspects in her texts, with references to heaven, angels, and all of her other love ballad cliches.

I'm only a Swedish student, not a native speaker, but if none of the Swedes are interested I can probably post a quick translation of each of the spot reviews in coming weeks from schlagerprofilerna or aftonbladet after the reporters get their listening party.

Schlagerprofilerna's Oswald is on location at the rehearsals today and LOOOOVES Alcazar. He says
"I'm in such a good mood right now.
    Det här är snyggt!
    Det här är coolt!
    Det här är fantastiskt!
    Det här är Alcazardisco!"
No translation probably required, but he's saying "It's goodlooking, cool, fantastic, Alcazar disco!"

"En cool (inte helt lättillgänglig) låt med klisterrefräng, rosa glitterstövlar, så mycket koreografi att man blir helt yr, ett dussin discokulor över hela scenen, en entré i rök genom golvet, självlysande (!) neonrosa mikrofoner och en grupp som aldrig varit bättre eller mera taggade."

A cool, (not totally easily accessible) song with a catchy refrain, pink glitter boots, enough choreography to make one dizzy, a dozen disco balls above the stage, an entrance through smoke covering the floor, pink neon self-lighting microphones, and a group never better or more outstanding. Gee, think he likes it?

He also reports that Marie will be a great Swedish representative to ESC, just not this year, and says her song tries so hard to be a perfect Eurovision votegetter that it loses its identity.

His verdicts on some of the others: Emilia is a great positive surprise, Scotts are really okay, but not outstanding, and Shirley's song is very good, but reminds him of Sanna doing "Vågar du, Vågar jag" in the same way that Sanna reminded him of Carola's "Evighet" the first time he heard THAT...

    On Shirley's number:
Med scenen full av väldigt mycket ljus
    "...med hjärtat fullt av ljus..."
"...en ängel här i mitt hus..."
    "...skuggorna vände om..."

    Sug på de där meningarna.
Är det Ingela Pling eller är det Ingela Pling?

(Translation) With a stage full of a great deal of light! "A heart full of light" "An angel here in my house" "The shadows all around" Suck on THOSE sentences--is that Ingela Pling or WHAT?

"Shirley står ensam på scen och sjunger en klassisk Lionheart-ballad medan lampa efter lampa tänds - och i höjningen brakar "en halv Magnus Carlsson" ned från taket (dvs en regnbåge med strålkastare) medan rosa tapetblommor dyker upp i bakgrunden."

(Translation) Shirley stands alone onstage and sings a classic Lionheart ballad while lamp after lamp lights up, and at the key-change crashes down a half-Magnus Carlsson from the ceiling, in other words a rainbow with spotlights, while pink paper flowers pop up in the background.

It either is going to be totally fantastic or poor Oswald is on an acid trip during the rehearsal.

I'm feeling a bit more positive about Alcazar after his description. There again, if he is on an acid trip it's likely to be what I initially thought it would be - a CAR CRASH.

His other verdicts, Jonathan's song is a radio-friendly piece of Disney-pop but lacks the "Energizer-bunny" energy you'd expect of this year's Jimmy Jansson type. And he really likes Nina's "Tick Tock" with its hunky half-dressed dancers, but realizes that it is probably in the bottom five of this year's crop of songs.

    shocked

I am seriously SPUNKING at that Shirley description. I fucking love Kärleken är and Se På Mig. Shirley doing something like that would totally work for me.

I'm seeing the wisdom of putting her in the first heat now. If we're getting a lot of Sanna-inspired balladry this year then Shirley may well benefit from being the first out. I imagine BWO will have a similarly overblown staging, so hopefully Shirl will steal their thunder.

This time tomorrow we'll have clips! OMG!

Marie serneholt, former lead sing of A-Teens and recently a successful solo artist, is the first Melodifestivalen wild card this year. She has a power pop song and for the first time, we can see the power of the Melodifestivalen rule change allowing up to eight people on stage. Marie is flanked by two female backing singers that join the dance group of four male modern dance specialists to create a powerful movement on the stage.
    LOL

Cover up the lack of talent. THAT IS MY GIRL

I'm relying on Andreas and Lina to pull this out the bag, Tess very rarely sings anything n the new songs now so PLEASE keep it that way.

Glad to see everyone saying Alcazar have got the best song though, Shirley's isn't sounding that good at all!

I hope my translation is right but from this i got

Höjningen har en snygg passage och Marie får till skriken coolt, men tonerna i själva höjningen sitter inte perfekt.

    She can't do the key-change

Going by the EscToday report, everyone there is either a guaranteed qualifier or a dangerous outsider. Very insightful!

The Alcazar performance does look like a winner, which in their case probably means a ticket for A.C.!

The lovely Emilia on top of her piano :

It seems that, just like with Marie, there are also 8 people with her on stage. Can't be long before the EBU decides to change their rules as well.

She is just doing the same thing that whatsherface did in the Danish MGP last year. The woman who did 'Until We Are Satisfied'.

I hope to God it isn't upbeat anyway.
