The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

New DS game just announced... looks similar to 'Hourglass' but this time instead of a boat to travel you use a train

I remember the last time I went back to that frigging temple before you got the warp, I really thought I was going to give up.

I mean, it was long enough as it was, it really didn't need stretching out as much as they did.

    innit

The last Zelda DS is the only Zelda I have ever given up on before coming even close to finishing it. I think I gave up on the second dungeon, worst way to try and boost an already short games lifespan EVER. I hated the game by the fourth return to that knobbing dungeon!

Yeah some bits of the last game were annoying, but it was still a GREAT game.

Yes, it was great overall - and once you realised you could skip bits of that endless temple, it vastly improved.

Hmm, well, I did like the last Zelda but like others, I gave up because going through the temple again and again got really tiring. The reward for completing a section of a game should not be that you get to go back to the same place and progress slightly further, particularly when you get enough items that to maximise time you have to do the ENTIRE thing again because you can now do it quicker.

That said, the good bits were good. I hope they'll be adding some new features though, DS games that made complete use of the stylus were still fairly rare at the time, now they're much more common (to varying degrees of success, admittedly), I'm not sure you can use that as a selling point anymore.

Right just about to give this ago (not sure if it's out yet but if feels like they have been advertising for ages)

Quite surprised they was no copyright troubles with this one... I still can't get Mario and Luigi to work

I note that you still have to return, and progress through a central dungeon in the game. Except it's been changed so that it's not quite so time consuming.

There were initially copyright protection problems. With the R4 the game would load and appear fine but the controls for the train were missing on the touch screen. Other cards wouldn't load and some wouldn't keep their save files.

There's a Xenophobia Cracked Rom released now which I'm using on my R4 which works perfectly.

Like you though I can't get Mario and Luigi to work!

Anyway I'm enjoying the game so far, train is a bit of a chore... maybe even slightly worse than sailing. You set your route and five minutes later (though it feels like longer!) you get where you wanna go, I'm presuming later on you will be able to teleport.

And there's a lot of blowing into the mic too, which is fine at home, but maybe not so good on public transport or in a coffee shop.
